Dear Parents/Guardians,

Today our traditional back to school letter was emailed to all parents/guardians with detailed information about the start of the school year. If you did not receive this email, please click on this link to view this important information: BACK TO SCHOOL PARENT LETTER. Please note:  we have corrected one error in the letter that was sent earlier today in regard to Class Orientation schedule:

  • Freshman Class:  Monday, August 17:  8:30-10:30 A-K; 12:30-2:20 L-Z
  • Sophomore Class:  Thursday, August 20:  8:30-10:30 A-K; 12:30-2:20 L-Z
  • Junior Class:  Friday, August 21:  8:30-10:30 A-K; 12:30-2:20 L-Z
  • Senior Class:  Monday, August 24:  8:30-10:30 A-K; 12:30-2:20 L-Z

Also, we are emailing your daughters today in regard to our Reopening and Learning Plan and are telling them to be on the lookout for a student-friendly version of the plan that we will email to students early next week!

Thank you for your patience as we continue to finalize all details for our Healthy at Assumption return to school.

REOPENING AND LEARNING PLAN SURVEY:  If you have not completed the Reopening and Learning Plan Survey; we ask that you please:

  • fully review the Reopening and Learning Plan
  • complete a Reopening and Learning Plan Survey for each of your daughters by TODAY Friday, August 7.

Your accurate responses are critical to our planning effectively for students.  If we do not receive a response from you by Friday, then we will assume that your daughter(s) plans to attend school via the hybrid model this fall. Additionally, if you and your daughter have chosen the hybrid plan, please also take time to complete the Parental Assurance of Daily Student Health Assessment which must be completed before she can attend school in-person.

MONITOR AND MANAGE YOUR DAUGHTER’S TABLET PC: On Monday, August 3, our IT Director sent an email to parents of new students regarding apParent, a mobile app available to you at no cost so you can monitor and manage your daughter’s school-issued tablet PC after school hours. This app, if you want to install it, will allow you to 1) View screen images of your daughter’s device; 2) Lock your daughter’s device with a custom message; 3) View 24 hours of your child’s web browsing history. Your daughters’ teachers can control their computers from 7:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. You can use the app outside of those hours on school days and all day on weekends and holidays.  All you need to do is to click the link in the email that was sent to you to install it. If you did not receive that link and did not set up your account last year, but want to do so this year, please email Brent Miller your daughter’s name, so he can send your specific activation link.

From the Athletic Office: The KHSAA Board of Control decision made on July 27 approved for sports to begin on Monday, August 24. This is the earliest date that soccer, field hockey, volleyball, cross country, cheer, and dance can have tryouts. Once tryout dates are set, we will update the Fall Tryouts page on our website. Please continue to monitor this link for further information. The board also approved for games to begin as early as September 7. We are busy working on schedules and should have those pages on the website updated soon. Please realize that these decisions and dates can be adjusted at any time.

STUDENTS ENROLLED IN 3602 TECH THEATRE I:  Due to an error in the system, the book for this course was not listed until yesterday.  Your daughter received an email on Friday with a link to the Amazon option or you can log into her MBS account to purchase the book.  Our apologies for this error.

APPLIED DIGITAL SKILLS COURSE FOR FRESHMEN AND TRANSFER STUDENTS:  During the weeks of July 27 and August 3, we are welcoming freshmen and transfers students to campus in groups of 10 for a 15-minute introduction to their HP Dragonfly tablets. This brief training allows them to quickly familiarize themselves with their tablet and login information.  Following their in-person training, freshmen and transfer students will receive an invitation to begin their semester-long Applied Digital Skills technology course to learn more on the features and capabilities of their tablet PC. This fully-online course has been in development over the last year and was designed by Jill Elder, one of our technology integration specialists, in collaboration with teachers. The course will be delivered to freshmen and transfer students over the first semester to ensure that they can master the programs and software that they use in the classroom.   Although this course was initially planned as an enhancement to the already robust training that students new to Assumption received directly and through use and training within the context of their classes in the past, we are proud to launch this course in the 2020-2021 school year as we know now, more than ever, understanding the digital world is key to how our students will thrive in class or at home with their HP tablets.

IMMUNIZATION CERTIFICATES:  ALL STUDENTS (returning, incoming freshmen, transfers) are required by state statute to have a current Commonwealth of Kentucky Certificate of Immunization Status on file with the school by the first day of classes. Immunization certificates may be faxed to the school at 502-454-8411 or snail mailed to Assumption High School, 2170 Tyler Lane, Louisville, KY  40205.

MAIN OFFICE AVAILABILITY:  To adhere to state mandates in response to COVID-19 and to continue to keep our entire community safe and healthy, we are continuing to recommend that parents email or mail any school-related items instead of dropping them off at school.   Assumption’s Main Office will be open from 7:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:15 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday starting Monday, August 3. In line with Assumption’s Re-opening and Learning Plan, visitors to the school will continue to be limited.  Any visitor who has an appointment that requires them to come into the building should come to the Tyler Lane door, ring the buzzer, and will be met there.  Visitors must wear a mask, undergo a temperature scan, and complete a health screening before entering the building.  Please feel free to contact Amy Schelb at 502-458-9551, option 0, or email at amy.schelb@ahsrockets.org for questions regarding the above or if you need assistance during this time.

Gratefully,

Martha Tedesco

Principal
