May 8, 2026

President and the Principal, Mary Lang and Martha Tedesco

Yesterday we celebrated the last day of classes for our senior class with our traditional Senior Walk Out.  The “walk out” has always been the faculty and staff’s way to celebrate, thank, and say goodbye to the senior class. It was a wonderful day with our seniors who have worked to “live a legacy” this school year.  We are so proud of our seniors who will always be forever young to us!

We are also so excited about their futures and the “many places they will go” this fall as depicted in the image and listed in the link below.

Thank you, senior parents, for sharing your daughters with us these past four years. We can’t wait to celebrate the Class of 2026 with you next week!

See the complete list of acceptances here.

So Much to Celebrate: Student Honors and Faculty & Staff Excellence

The Assumption Honors Ceremony was held today for our underclasswomen.  At this event, we celebrated the accomplishments of our underclasswomen in the areas of academics, service, fine arts, and leadership as well as honor scholarship recipients. We are so proud of the accomplishments of our freshmen, sophomores, and juniors this year!  We also honored the service of faculty and staff as we awarded the annual Karen Russ Excellence in Teaching Award to Andrew Stairs and the Excellence Award for Staff to Erica Lasley. An online program highlighting the many achievements recognized today will be available in next week’s Rocket Report.

JUNIOR RING CEREMONY: We will be celebrating the Class of 2027 at their ring blessing ceremony on Saturday, May 9 at 11:00 a.m. in the Assumption High School gym.  Please keep the juniors and their families in your prayers as they celebrate this special milestone!

AP EXAMS: AP exams will be held Monday, May 4 through Friday, May 15. Important information about the testing days and testing site as well as how to help your daughter be prepared can be found through this link: AP GENERAL INFORMATION AND SCHEDULE OF EXAMS

GRADUATION EVENTS: We will be celebrating the Class of 2026 at the following events next week.  Please keep the Class of 2026 and their families in your prayers during this very special time!

  • Wednesday, May 13 – Senior Honors Ceremony – 6:30 p.m. in the CAC/gym.
  • Thursday, May 14 – Senior Baccalaureate Mass – 6:30 p.m. at St. Bernadette Catholic Church
  • Sunday, May 17 – Graduation – 11:00 a.m. at The Louisville Palace Theatre

PRAYER INTENTIONS: All Assumption parents and alumnae are invited to share prayer intentions. Periodically, we will include the line of “prayer intentions posted online by AHS parents and alumnae” as part of our morning prayer over the P.A. Likewise, feel free to include the intentions you find there in your own personal prayer. To participate, please follow this link.

APO THANK YOU: A huge thank you to our amazing parents for sponsoring our Faculty and Staff Appreciation Luncheon on Wednesday. Through your generosity, we were able to provide some awesome prizes and a delicious catered lunch. Our faculty and staff were so touched by the gesture, and the energy was wonderful as we started to wrap up the school year. We also want to give a huge thank you to our APO volunteers. We truly appreciate the many ways you support AHS!

TEXTBOOK RETURN: We are continuing our relationship with eCampus for the 2026-2027 school year, and your daughter’s books will be included in her tuition. To be the best steward of these funds, we need to make sure that all books considered RENTAL are returned from this school year.  If any of your daughter’s texts were considered a rental, she received an email last week.  Please ask your daughter if she received this email and if she has taken the necessary steps. We will not be able to distribute books to your daughter next year until these books are returned or are paid for. Thanks for checking on this with your daughter and for your continued partnership with these materials. To return rental books, please click on this link

or scan the code below.

END-OF-SEMESTER SCHEDULE: In order to keep a more consistent start time this school year and to have an earlier dismissal, which will help avoid conflicts with St. Raphael on our shared campus, our end-of-year assessment schedule for second semester will again take place from 8:50 –11:40 a.m. each day, and not end at 12:30 p.m. as originally shared in our year-at-a-glance calendar. Our end-of-semester assessments/finals will be held from Monday, May 18 to Thursday, May 21.  Before-school supervision will be provided in the cafeteria as usual beginning at 7:15 a.m. each day, and FLIK will be selling a variety of breakfast items from 7:30-8:40 a.m. each day during exams.  They will reopen at 10:25 and close at 10:50 each day during exams.

Please note: There will be no after-school supervision in the cafeteria on these days.  Please make arrangements for your daughter to be picked up each day after exams by 12:00 p.m.  Our building will close at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20 for faculty/staff end-of-year activities so students will not be able to meet with faculty/staff members that afternoon.

SCHEDULES FOR 2026-2027: During Community Time on Thursday, May 14, your daughter’s homeroom teacher will give her the list of courses for which she has been scheduled for the 2026-2027 school year. Please take a moment to ask your daughter about this list and to review it with her. Students will also receive an email from the deans of studies on May 14 that provides detailed instructions about steps they should take if they want to discuss an elective or level change for next year.  The deans will be available to meet with students during their study hall on Monday, May 18 – Thursday, May 21.  Course changes can also be made during the drop-add period when students return to school in August.   Please note that for any level changes, a signed schedule change form indicating approval from both her current teacher and from a parent/guardian must be submitted.  Students interested in a level change should already be in conversation with their teachers.  These forms are available in the main office. Of course, Judy Fieldhouse  (A–K) and Theresa Schuhmann(L-Z) are always available if you have any questions or concerns.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR ANY STUDENT WHO REGISTERED FOR A DUAL CREDIT CLASS THROUGH UNIVERSITY OF LOUISVILLE FOR NEXT SCHOOL YEAR:   If your daughter has registered to take DC English IV, DC Human Development and Learning, DC Foundations of Instruction or DC The Teaching Profession, she needs to register for an RTI session on Wednesday, May 13.  Our liaison from UL will be here to get all students registered at UL for the Fall and Spring 2026 semester.  They will need to know their Social Security Number to complete this application.  Parents will receive an email from UL that will need your response for your daughter’s admission to be complete.  Please be on the lookout for this.

UNIFORM/SPIRIT WEAR DONATIONS: The Guidance and Counseling department is now accepting uniform/spirit wear donations.  Do you have any extra uniform pieces or spirit wear around your house?  The counseling office uses the donated uniforms for three purposes.  The Rocket Parent Network sells donated uniform pieces to raise money for their scholarships.  The counselors also use donated uniform pieces to help students in financial need and for whom the replacement of a uniform piece would be cost prohibitive.  We also have a lending closet in the counseling office for students who happen to forget a skirt or uniform piece.  We are able to help these students by lending them a uniform item for a day.  Donated uniforms may be dropped off in the counseling office anytime.  You may want to mark your calendar now for our upcoming Rocket Parent Network Annual Used Uniform Sale, which will be held on Saturday, June 13 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. in the cafeteria. Most items are $10 and under.  Come by and shop the bargains!

END-OF-THE-YEAR TECHNOLOGY INFORMATION FOR ALL STUDENTS:

A member of our IT Department will share the following information with our students in one of their May class meetings.

  • All students must turn in their HP laptop to the Boeckmann Lab by their last day of classes. Seniors must turn in their HP laptops on their last day of classes or after their last exam. We must have them turned in before graduation. All other students need to turn them in on or before May 21.
  • Graduating seniors may purchase their HP laptops for $5.00. However, they must turn them in and tell us then if they want to purchase them so we can remove the school software. The graduates may pick up their purchased HP laptops starting the week of June 8. Come to the Boeckmann Lab Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
  • If a senior wants to purchase her HP laptop, the $5.00 fee (cash or check, no credit cards) will be collected when she comes to pick it up. The HP laptops not purchased by the seniors will be placed in our school loaner pool or will be used for parts to fix other computers.
  • The PC warranty and accidental damage protection ends the day before graduation. Also, graduated seniors’ AHS email and all Microsoft products will be deactivated on August 1. Please make the proper accommodations for removing all important information from these places.
  • Rising seniors may pick up their HP laptops starting the week of July 13 and rising sophomores and juniors starting the week of July 20. Come to the Boeckmann Lab Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. -3:00 p.m.  HP laptops can only be given to students who come with their school-issued case to pick up. This is a requirement for our accidental damage insurance.
  • If your student is participating in a summer activity through Assumption and will need access to her laptop, please have her reach out to the IT Department and the faculty member coordinating that activity to make arrangements for keeping or picking up her laptop.

PARKING FOR JUNIORS AND SENIORS FOR NEXT YEAR: Our current sophomores and juniors will soon receive detailed information about parking for next year at upcoming class meetings. Students need to have their driver’s license to apply for a parking space. We ask that students submit their own parking information online and work with Ms. Wesley and Mrs. Park themselves to take care of the parking process. Students will receive all of the needed information for parking links in their email. Parking is assigned based on several factors including carpool and seniority.

  • Monday, July 13, 3:00 p.m.: Deadline for submitting a parking payment and information for space assignment before school starts
  • Monday, July 13, 3:00 p.m.: Deadline for having passengers set up in CarpoolToSchool.com

If your daughter plans to drive to school next year, please encourage her to consider giving a ride to another student to/from school, practice, etc. It builds community, is good for the environment, and helps Assumption be a good neighbor by reducing the amount of school-related traffic in our area.

CARPOOL INFORMATION FOR PARENTS: Assumption is pleased to announce that we will again partner with CarpoolToSchool.com for the 2026-2027 school year. This online service creates an Assumption-only network that allows parents and students to set up carpools to and/or from school. Requests for carpools can also be made on the site. Parents of incoming freshmen and rising sophomores should be receiving an email from CarpoolToSchool.com in mid-May inviting them to participate (check your junk folder if you don’t see it in your Inbox).  Parents of rising juniors and seniors who are also interested in using this service may utilize CarpoolToSchool. General questions about CarpoolToSchool may be directed to Tatum Park in the Main Office.

TORCHPREP ACT SUMMER INTENSIVE CAMP: TorchPrep will offer an ACT Summer Intensive Camp session at AHS from June 8-11, 2026. It’s a great opportunity to achieve target scores for college admissions and scholarships. They were also invited to chat with their principal, Mrs. Tedesco, in person about any of their answers to the survey questions as she hosted “Popsicles with the Principal” during all lunches on Wednesday in the senior courtyard. Please encourage your senior daughter to complete her survey by next Monday, May 11.

SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT GRADUATION TICKETS: If your family will not be using all ten (10) of the allotted graduation tickets given to your senior, please have her bring them to the main office so they can be distributed to another senior who is in need of extra tickets.  Thank you!

COLLEGE WORKSHOP for the CLASS OF 2027: The Guidance and Counseling Department is thrilled to offer a College Workshop on Sunday, August 2 for the Class of 2027. Due to the ever-changing landscape of college admission, particularly early college application deadlines, housing deadlines, etc., the college counselors are providing this workshop opportunity for seniors to get started on their application process before school begins.  We feel it is imperative that all members of the Class of 2027 attend this event to gain a clear understanding of the college process, particularly those details specific to the Assumption process. Our goal and focus of this workshop is to prepare your student for the many nuances of the college process.  The workshop will begin at 12:00 p.m. and conclude at 4:00 p.m. We will begin and end the day in the Performing and Fine Arts Center (theater), and snacks will be provided.  Seniors must bring their laptop computer (fully charged) and their water bottle.   Please reach out to your college counselor with any questions  Leigh Jackson (A-K) & Kim Habich (L-Z).  We look forward to seeing ALL members of the Class of 2027 on August 2.
