Pope Francis has stated that “God’s mercy transforms human hearts; it enables us, through the experience of a faithful love, to become merciful in turn.” During this Mission Week, our students have fully experienced how to be merciful and grounded in faithful love through their Mission Week activities. They have learned that they are valuable people, that everyone has dignity and worth, and what they do and say really does make a difference! In the end, whether experiencing something as big as a mission trip or something as small as an act of kindness, our students’ hearts have grown fully and faithfully. Our hope is that they have been inspired to continue to “remember who they are” throughout the year – intellectually, physically, spiritually, and interpersonally. Thank you for your prayers and support of your daughters during this very special week.

Assumption TED Talks
Our 2nd annual Assumption TED Talks took place yesterday as a part of Mission Week! This started as a senior dream from alum, Mary Claire Schmidt ’23. She envisioned an opportunity for students to share lessons they’ve learned through pivotal experiences in their life. These students did an absolutely fantastic job telling their stories, public speaking, and engaging with their audience. Thank you for sharing what has significantly impacted your life, and for inspiring our community.

MISSION WEEK HOLIDAY: There is no school on Friday, March 1.
CURRENT FRESHMAN PARENT REGISTRATION INFORMATION NIGHT: Attention, all freshman parents: On Thursday, March 7, at 6:30 p.m. please join Dean of Studies Theresa Schuhmann and Class of 2027 counselor Jennifer Ruckriegel for an online meeting in which she will provide information about the registration and course selection process for all freshman parents. We highly recommend you take advantage of this important informational session to help your daughters plan their course of study for their sophomore year. A link to the meeting will be emailed next week.

ASSUMPTION PARENT PRAYER: Our parent prayer group will meet on Tuesday, March 5 from 8:30-9:00 a.m. in the AHS chapel and will continue to meet each Tuesday morning throughout the school year. Please park in any open space and enter the school through the main entrance. During the year, we pray for every student by name twice. Next week, we will be praying for the Limerick Family freshmen and sophomores. Please join us for any or all of these opportunities.
PRAYER INTENTIONS: The Community of Assumption knows the power of prayer! All AHS parents and alumnae are invited to submit prayer intentions online. These intentions are then lifted in prayer all together during Five-Minute Prayer in the chapel on Wednesdays and weekly on the PA during morning prayer. If you would like to submit an intention, you can do so here. They will remain there for about two weeks, but feel free to post the same intention again later if needed. Also, you may wish to consider adding the intentions you find there to your own personal prayer!

WORK IT WEDNESDAY – MARCH SCHEDULE: The Achievement Center will be hosting three Work It Wednesdays for the month of March. Mark your calendars now for March 6, 13, and 27. Students are invited to come to the Media Center from 7:45 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. to receive extra support in their classes from peer tutors, study groups, or the AC teachers. We ask students to please RSVP in advance.
MID-SEMESTER CONFERENCE COMMUNICATION: This semester, teachers will be sending an email to the parents of any student whose grade in their class is a D or F as of Friday, March 8. We ask all parents who receive an email to respond in a timely fashion. Parents may request a conference virtually through Teams during the conference window of Tuesday, March 12 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. A link will be provided in the teacher’s email. Of course, any parent may request a conference call via phone or team or in-person meeting with a teacher at any time during the school year to discuss a student’s progress in a course. We appreciate your shared commitment to our partnership to best help our students achieve academic success.
ABSENCES BEFORE/AFTER SPRING BREAK: Please note that Assumption does not grant excused absences for college days on days immediately before or after Spring Break. We also cannot excuse students from school for family trips and/or vacations. If you are planning to take your daughter out of school for the whole day or before 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, whether to incorporate a college visit or to get a jump start on Spring Break travel, please bear in mind that the absence will be unexcused and she will not be able to receive full credit for anything collected for a grade (including tests) in her classes while she is gone; makeup work that is completed and turned in will receive 50% of the grade earned. If your daughter becomes ill and is unable to attend school on Thursday, March 28, or Monday, April 8, she will need to provide a doctor’s note for the absence to be excused. If you have any questions or concerns about this, please contact Dean of Students Kamaria Wesley. Full details about our attendance and absence policies and procedures can be found in the STUDENT-PARENT HANDBOOK.

2024-2025 SCHOOL CALENDAR: We are in the process of building the 2024-2025 school calendar. Although we have not finalized the calendar, we recognize that our families may need general calendar information in advance. In order to help with this need, the tentative key calendar dates for 2024-2025 are now posted on our website through this link: IMPORTANT DATES FOR THE 2024-2025 SCHOOL CALENDAR
IMPORTANT UPCOMING STUDENT REGISTRATION INFORMATION: In March, we will be starting the registration process for the 2024-2025 school year. Below is important information:
- TUITION AND REGISTRATION FEES FOR THE 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR: Parents or guardians of current freshman, sophomore, or junior students will be receiving an email in April announcing tuition for the 2024-2025 school year. This year we will continue using Blackbaud Tuition Management (BBTM) for registration and tuition. BBTM will automatically re-enroll your account in March for the 2024-2025 school year. Once that process is complete, you will receive a verification email from BBTM with instructions on how to log in to your 2024-2025 account or call them directly to make any changes (payment plan, banking information, etc.) Your registration fee will be included with your July payment. If your daughter will not be returning for the 2024-2025 school year, please contact our registrar, KATHY FLEISCHER. If you have any questions about your account, please contact TAMMY FINCH.
- PARENT POWERSCHOOL LOG IN FOR 2024-2025 REGISTRATION: We began meeting with freshmen, sophomores, and juniors regarding decision making around next year’s schedule earlier this month, and we will meet with students during LEAD & Learn on March 7 and 8 to prepare for our online registration for the 2024-2025 school year. This is a great time to have a conversation with your daughter about her classes for next year. More detailed information will follow, but please make note that you will need to log into your parent PowerSchool account to register your daughter for classes next year. If you have forgotten your parent username or password for PowerSchool, when you go to the login screen for PowerSchool, just click on the link “Having trouble signing in?” and follow the directions to obtain a forgotten username or forgotten password. Please contact kathy.fleischer@ahsrockets.org or brent.miller@ahsrockets.org if you have trouble logging in!
- 2024-2025 COURSE SELECTIONS: On Monday, March 11 and Tuesday, March 12, our teachers will be conferencing with all current freshmen, sophomores, and juniors regarding their course selections for the 2024-2025 school year. We encourage you to have a conversation regarding course selections for next year prior to March 11 and 12 so that students can have more productive meetings with their teachers. Registration will open after school on March 12.
- 2024-2025 COURSE SELECTIONS & DEADLINES: Your daughter will consult with her teachers for class suggestions, meet with her parents to log into PowerSchool using the PARENT account, and make careful selections of courses for next year. SENIORS – MOTHER/DAUGHTER BREAKFAST: Just a reminder to our seniors and their mothers or mother figures – the Mother/Daughter Breakfast is Saturday, March 23, at the Crown Plaza Hotel by the airport (830 Phillips Ln, Louisville, KY 40209) from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Seniors will be learning more about this during a class meeting next week. Optional pictures will be available beginning at 8:00 a.m. Please note that it’s best to arrive early for photos so that you don’t have to wait until after the breakfast to get yours. After the event, you can go online to order photos at https://shop.studioillumination.com/. We are planning on you and your daughter attending, but if a conflict makes this impossible, please let MARY ANN STEUTERMANN know by March 15 if you are NOT able to attend.

JUNIOR PROM: The Junior Prom will be held on Saturday, April 13, from 8:00-11:00 p.m. in the Assumption gym. The junior class moderators and class officers have been hard at work in the process of planning the details for the big semi-formal event, and many juniors have already started shopping for the dance. With this in mind, our dean of students, Kamaria Wesley, will visit junior class meetings to review information about our dress code for dances with the students and answer any general questions they might have; she will email information about the dress code for the dance to all the juniors. Please take a few minutes to look it over and then to discuss with your daughter so you can help her know what is expected as she is deciding what to wear to the event—as you will see in the information, Ms. Wesley recommends that they ask parents for advice in following the guidelines to make sure they are dressed appropriately for a Catholic high school dance. We are counting on you to help your daughter evaluate some of the current fashion trends. As the dance gets closer, we will share information about our usual dance policies and expectations along with information about the theme and ticket details in a class meeting and with reminder emails and announcements.
