Aviation – Soar Like a Rocket! 

Fly like a Rocket! The day is packed with fun as we explore the basic principles of flight and the fundamentals of aviation through engaging hands-on activities, experiments, and competitions. *Limited space.

Who Runs the World? Girls! 

Did you know that women make up only 28% of the workforce in science, technology, engineering, and math-based professions? Well watch out world because the future is female! This camp will focus on exciting STEM activities to encourage a lasting love of learning. We will investigate the thermochromic properties, explore some tasty chemical reactions, and apply the scientific method in all kinds of exciting experiments! There will also be plenty of movement, crafts, and problem-solving games built in for a well-rounded overall experience that has been described as, “The best camp of my life!” Your daughter will leave this session thinking like a scientist – but most importantly, she will have FUN!

Cooking Basics 101

Campers will practice their skills and basic cooking abilities while making soups, stews, and chicken pot pie. Additionally, campers will learn how to make pie crusts, gravy, and basic sauces. This is the perfect camp for your budding chef to gain more confidence in the kitchen! *Must wear closed toed shoes.

Soccer

This camp for grades K – 4 is designed for young players looking to develop their fundamental skills and grow their love for the game. Our goal is to instill the joy of the game in each camper by focusing on sound technical development in a fun and inclusive environment. The camp for grades 5 – 9 is designed to further player development and introduce campers to higher levels of technical and tactical training. Our goal is to prepare campers to play at the high school level, by focusing on team concepts.

Aerials Camp

Calling all adventurous spirits to come FLY with the Assumption Aerials Team! Campers will work alongside Assumption’s aerial coach and members of the Rocket Aerials to learn the basics of trapeze, lyra, silks, and sling. No experience is needed for this introductory camp. We will provide campers with a safe and positive environment for having fun, while enhancing physical coordination, agility, endurance, strength, balance, and motor skills.

Archery Camp

We are excited to announce that we will once again be offering two coed options for archery camp this summer. The beginner session is for archers who have little to no experience shooting a bow, and would like to learn more about the proper archery fundamentals and techniques. The intermediate/advanced session is for archers who have a basic or higher level of archery experience and would like to learn additional techniques and fundamentals. This year, we will have 3D targets to practice on, in addition to more games and drawings to give away prizes including two bows. Campers should bring a bow if they have one. Basketball

Assumption will be offering a fun-filled week of learning age-appropriate basketball skills. Grades 2-5 will focus on individual skill, developing the fundamentals of basketball, and teamwork through drills and competition. Grades 6-9 will focus on improving and developing higher-level skills in shooting, passing, and defense, along with an emphasis on team and individual competitions through live scrimmages and drills. Camp will be conducted by current and former college players, the Assumption basketball team, and Assumption coaching staff.

PURR-Fectly PAW-Some Pet Camp 

Do you have a pet, or do you like to learn about animals? If so, then you will PAW-sitively love this camp, and the activities centered around animals. Campers will make treats and toys to donate to a local animal shelter, create animal themed crafts, play animal-themed games, learn how to be a good pet pal, meet some live friendly pets, and enjoy animal themed snacks. Participants will have the opportunity to celebrate an animal they like through “show and tell”. This can be a picture, stuffed animal, or campers can sign up to have their guardian bring a pet to Assumption. We hope you can join us for this camp. It will be a tail-wagging good time!

Creative Crafting 

Campers will have the opportunity to show off their creativity by making a variety of craft projects. Each day will be filled with a new and exciting craft that campers will love.  All skill levels are welcome!

Cheerleading

Come join the Assumption cheerleaders for two days of fun-filled cheerleading! You will learn proper technique and fundamentals of high school cheerleading from the AHS varsity cheerleaders and coaching staff. The two days will be broken down into blocks of cheer, dance, jumps, and stunts!

NEW! Kinetic Kids Camp

Does your child have boundless energy that makes them bounce off the walls when stuck inside? Then get ready for an action-packed experience at Kinetic Kids Camp! This high-energy camp is tailored for children who love to move, play, and explore. Our enthusiastic counselors will lead a variety of exciting indoor and outdoor activities that will have your child physically active, mentally engaged, and smiling from ear to ear. From outdoor games like tag and nature hikes, to indoor dance parties and obstacle courses, your child will have ample opportunities to burn off energy, develop teamwork skills, and most of all, to have fun! We’ll also incorporate mindfulness practices like yoga and deep breathing exercises to promote focus and self-awareness. With nonstop fun and zero dull moments, your child will make new friends, discover new talents, and expend so much energy that they’ll sleep like a rock at night. Advanced Baking 

Campers will learn how to bake chocolate chip cookies, snicker doodles, and macarons, along with chocolate zucchini bread cake, Italian orange cake, and pound cakes from scratch. We will cover the basics of icing, and the art of ingredient substitution! *Must wear closed toed shoes.

Adventures in Art

This fun-filled art camp provides children with a wonderful introduction to several forms of visual art. We will spend the week exploring mediums of paint, oil pastels, markers, printmaking, yarn, and recycled items. There will be five projects created, as well as experimenting and learning. We invite you to learn to play softball the Rocket way! Players will be taught by the Assumption coaching staff as well as current and former players. Field Hockey Tryout Prep 

This camp is for any high school player wanting to get in some touches before tryouts begin on July 15. We will focus on skill and drills that players will see in tryouts, demonstrate and practice running tests, play small games, and scrimmage. It’s a great way to get some extra practice. Players do NOT have to be attending Assumption to participate. Choose the grade for the following school year.

Lacrosse

Assumption’s lacrosse clinic is designed to teach and develop the fundamental skills of the game: throwing, catching, cradling, shooting, feeding, ground balls, and offensive and defensive skills while focusing on improving participants’ level of confidence. This camp offers players the opportunity to improve their stick skills and conceptual understanding of the game through challenging drills, skill building activities, and full-field scrimmages. We will focus on the skills needed to develop for the specific grade level; with the younger girls focusing on the basics, and older girls understanding what it will take to compete at the high school level. The goal will be for the girls to develop a love for the game, establish friendships and understand the value of competition and sportsmanship, while learning in a fun environment with current high school players.

Crafting a Song: Taylor’s Version

Calling all Swifties! Are you interested in writing music and producing your own songs? If so, come learn the basics of how to craft a song through the lens of one of the greatest pop songwriters of all time – Taylor Swift! Topics will include song form, lyrics, rhyming, simple chord progressions, simple production, and recording. Students should supply their own computer/laptop/tablet for the class. By the end of the week, students will finish writing their own song (and maybe even recording part of it)! Some musical experience is good, but not required.

Musical Theatre

Lights, Camera, Action! This year’s Rose Theatre Company Musical Camp will be centered around movies. Campers will experience daily sessions in music and dance along with getting-to-know-you activities, theatre games, and acting instruction! The camp will culminate with a showcase performance on Friday morning.

NEW! Sew Much Fun – Simple Sewing for Beginners 

Campers will learn how to sew easy, but fun projects by hand. They will learn how to thread a needle, tie a knot, and sew on a button. The basics of hand sewing including the running stitch, backstitch, blanket stitch, and whip stitch will be taught. All supplies will be included each day.

Soccer Elite Prep 

This camp is a pre-tryout skills camp for the more experienced player. Elite college and high school players will help focus on individual skills through small group instruction followed by application of the skills in full field game type situations. A review of some basic touch drills, shooting fundamentals, and the AHS soccer tryout format will be taught during this two-day camp. This is great preparation for ANY rising 8^th grader or freshman considering playing soccer in high school, no matter the player’s final choice of high school.

Camp Hogwarts 

Learn about spells, potions, and the care of magical creatures through crafts and games! Then settle in for some movie clips and close readings of the Harry Potter texts. Is your lucky number 13? Is midnight your favorite time of day? Do you love snakes, red scarves, and enjoy when you can let loose and shake it off? Campers will visit a bracelet-making station, create “Eras” glasses, make “paper rings,” and have the opportunity to dress as their favorite era! Get your creativity flowing and express yourself while picking your own project at this fun, engaging camp. Participants may choose from a select variety of options to design their own unique and stylish wood sign by using various methods such as sanding, distressing, staining, stenciling, painting and more. Campers will explore their many talents and leave with beautiful products to keep or share with family and friends. Please plan to wear comfortable, old clothes/shoes, as being creative can get messy.

Assumption’s Got Talent – The Eras Tour

Are you a Swiftie who likes to sing and/or play guitar? If so, Assumption’s Got Talent is the camp for you! Campers will learn to sing and play guitar to some of Taylor Swift’s songs. There will be a small performance for families on the final day of camp.

Stress Relief Workshop 

The middle school years can be fun and exciting, but they can also cause a lot of stress! In this workshop campers will learn what causes stress and various strategies for dealing with it. We’ll discuss major sources of stress like procrastination; dealing with change, conflict, anger, and regret; thinking traps, relationship challenges, and decision-making dilemmas. Strategies related to mindfulness, movement, healthy communication, goal-setting, and problem-solving will also be learned. To develop new skills, campers will watch two movies, do a few crafts, and even create their own “Stress Relief Survival Kit” to take home!

Summer Olympic Fun 

Let’s play! Are you wanting to meet new friends, learn new skills, try new things, and gain confidence? Then Summer Olympic Fun is for you! We will be offering a variety of hands-on activities, crafts and games that will keep campers active and moving throughout each day of camp. An Olympic theme will be planned for each day, and will include a craft, individual and group games (scavenger hunts, obstacle courses, frisbee golf and of course water fun).

Cross Country 

Assumption cross country has a tradition of excellence, including eight state championships and four Nike Cross Country National Championship berths! The camp is led by Head Coach Barry Haworth, and is a great way to prepare for the upcoming cross-country season. Campers will do daily runs, and Coach Haworth will help the girls learn effective injury prevention, stretching routines, and most importantly, how to make running fun!

Field Hockey Skills and Drills/Tryout Prep (formerly elite camp) 

This camp is a pre-try out skills camp for the more experienced player. We will focus on skills through small group instruction with elite college and high school players and will then apply those skills in both small game situations and full field experiences. Advanced stick skills (chips, lifts, sweeps, 3D skills) will be taught along with basic skill polishing. This camp is great prep for ANY high school tryout or preseason training, no matter the player’s high school choice. All players will receive a reversible jersey. Cooking Around the World

This camp will focus on an adventurous look at cooking in places like France, Greece, and Italy! Campers will travel to the home of the croissant, tzatziki, and pasta! Crafting a Song: Taylor’s Version

Calling all Swifties! Are you interested in writing music and producing your own songs? If so, come learn the basics of how to craft a song through the lens of one of the greatest pop songwriters of all time – Taylor Swift! Topics will include song form, lyrics, rhyming, simple chord progressions, simple production, and recording. Students should supply their own computer/laptop/tablet for the class. By the end of the week, students will finish writing their own song (and maybe even recording part of it)! Some musical experience is good, but not required.

Sensational Scrapbooking

You’re invited to come learn some creative ideas for scrapbooking memories! Discover techniques to create interesting page layout designs and learn some fun photography tips too. Campers will create four different scrapbook projects including a traditional scrapbook. Each camper will be given a personal supply box to take home at the end of the week. All supplies will be provided but participants will need to bring in their own pictures for projects each day. No scrapbooking experience necessary.

Advanced Baking

CanvAHS (Formerly “Give Me a Sign!”)

Get your creativity flowing and express yourself while picking your own project at this fun, engaging camp. Participants may choose from a select variety of options to design their own unique and stylish wood sign by using various methods such as sanding, distressing, staining, stenciling, painting and more. Campers will explore their many talents and leave with beautiful products to keep or share with family and friends. Please plan to wear comfortable, old clothes/shoes, as being creative can get messy.

PURR-Fectly PAW-Some Pet Camp 

Do you have a pet, or do you like to learn about animals? If so, then you will PAW-sitively love this camp, and the activities centered around animals. Campers will make treats and toys to donate to a local animal shelter, create animal themed crafts, play animalt-hemed games, learn how to be a good pet pal, meet some live friendly pets, and enjoy animal themed snacks. Participants will have the opportunity to celebrate an animal they like through “show and tell”. This can be a picture, stuffed animal, or campers can sign up to have their guardian bring a pet to Assumption. We hope you can join us for this camp. It will be a tail-wagging good time!

NEW! Sew Much Fun – Simple Sewing for Beginners 

Campers will learn how to sew easy, but fun projects by hand. They will learn how to thread a needle, tie a knot, and sew on a button. The basics of hand sewing including the running stitch, backstitch, blanket stitch, and whip stitch will be taught. All supplies will be included each day.

Stress Relief Workshop 

The middle school years can be fun and exciting, but they can also cause a lot of stress! In this workshop campers will learn what causes stress and various strategies for dealing with it. We’ll discuss major sources of stress like procrastination; dealing with change, conflict, anger, and regret; thinking traps, relationship challenges, and decision-making dilemmas. Strategies related to mindfulness, movement, healthy communication, goal-setting, and problem-solving will also be learned. To develop new skills, campers will watch two movies, do a few crafts, and even create their own “Stress Relief Survival Kit” to take home!

Summer Olympic Fun 

Let’s play! Are you wanting to meet new friends, learn new skills, try new things, and gain confidence? Then Summer Olympic Fun is for you! An Olympic theme will be planned for each day, and will include a craft, individual and group games (scavenger hunts, obstacle courses, frisbee golf and of course water fun).

Did you know that women make up only 28% of the workforce in science, technology, engineering, and math-based professions? Well watch out world because the future is female! This camp will focus on exciting STEM activities to encourage a lasting love of learning. We will investigate the thermochromic properties, explore some tasty chemical reactions, and apply the scientific method in all kinds of exciting experiments! There will also be plenty of movement, crafts, and problem-solving games built in for a well-rounded overall experience that has been described as, “The best camp of my life!” Your daughter will leave this session thinking like a scientist – but most importantly, she will have FUN!
