Director of Mission Effectiveness, Mary Ann Steutermann
Countless hours of preparation have gone into planning a purposeful and meaningful Mission Week for your daughters. This year’s 17th annual Mission Week is designed to be a special experience of growth and transformation. Through a wide array of learning experiences, students are called to reflect upon their own dignity and worth, that of others, and the potential they each have to make the world a better place. Our Mission Week theme is “Remember Who You Are.” We invite your participation by holding us all close in prayer as we work with students to learn more about who they are, celebrate their own value, and respect that of others. Please remember in prayer those traveling, those teaching, those serving, those learning, those reflecting, those planning and adapting plans. Our parent prayer group will not be meeting this week due to the changed schedule, but we invite you to take some time on Monday to offer this prayer for the week:
Be with us, Merciful God, as we seek to be
Your voice, Your hands, Your love
in the world this week.
Help us be open to growth and new opportunities.
Give us the strength to always be people of Mercy.
Amen.

FLY GIRLS
The Varsity Club planned a fun-filled Spirit Week with festive theme days culminating in a pep rally! Congratulations to our winter sports athletes and senior athletes who were recognized at our winter sports pep rally for their participation in archery, basketball, cheer, dance, and swimming/diving. And a big shout out to the Fly Girls of the Class of 2024 for their AMAZING fly girl dance performance – an Assumption senior tradition! You can view their dance through this link:

MISSION WEEK: Mission Week is Monday, February 26 – Thursday, February 29. We will begin school each morning one hour later at 9:15 a.m. and dismiss each day at 3:00 p.m. We believe that Mission Week activities are so important that we suspend classes for the week; all students are required to attend and participate in the activities scheduled, both on and off campus. All attendance policies apply during Mission Week–if your daughter is ill and unable to participate on a given day, please call the attendance office as usual. If at all possible, please do not schedule medical appointments for your daughter on days when she will be participating in activities off campus. There is no school on Friday, March 1.
BEFORE- AND AFTER-SCHOOL SUPERVISION: During Mission Week, before-school supervision will be provided in the cafeteria as usual beginning at 7:15 a.m. each day. After-school supervision will also be provided each day in the cafeteria until 4:30 p.m. as usual.
BLOOM THEATRE PROJECT: Bringing Life Onstage and Offstage through Ministry (BLOOM) is Assumption’s social justice theatre project and annual student theatre festival. This year’s production, titled “Spread Your Wings,” will take place on Friday, February 23, and Saturday, February 24, at 7:00 p.m. The project features six student-written plays based on the Mission Week theme, “Remember Who You Are.” The Advanced Theatre class invites you to experience these original works FREE of charge. General admission. No tickets required. If you or anyone in your party requires assistance or handicap accessibility, please contact ANDREW STAIRS.
ROCKET PARENT NETWORK (RPN) SPEAKER MEETING – Discussing Teen Anxiety: RPN invites all parents to our upcoming Spring Speaker Meeting. ASSUMPTION PARENT PRAYER: Due to Mission Week, Parent Prayer will resume on Tuesday, March 5. We hope to see you then.
PRAYER INTENTIONS: The Community of Assumption knows the power of prayer! All AHS parents and alumnae are invited to submit prayer intentions online. These intentions are then lifted in prayer all together during Five-Minute Prayer in the chapel on Wednesdays and weekly on the PA during morning prayer. If you would like to submit an intention, you can do so here. They will remain there for about two weeks, but feel free to post the same intention again later if needed. Also, you may wish to consider adding the intentions you find there to your own personal prayer!

2024-2025 SCHOOL CALENDAR: We are in the process of building the 2024-2025 school calendar. Although we have not finalized the calendar, we recognize that our families may need general calendar information in advance. In order to help with this need, the tentative key calendar dates for 2024-2025 are now posted on our website through this link: IMPORTANT DATES FOR THE 2024-2025 SCHOOL CALENDAR
IMPORTANT UPCOMING STUDENT REGISTRATION INFORMATION: In March, we will be starting the registration process for the 2024-2025 school year. Below is important information:
- TUITION AND REGISTRATION FEES FOR THE 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR: Parents or guardians of current freshman, sophomore, or junior students will be receiving an email in April announcing tuition for the 2024-2025 school year. This year we will continue using Blackbaud Tuition Management (BBTM) for registration and tuition. BBTM will automatically re-enroll your account in March for the 2024-2025 school year. Once that process is complete, you will receive a verification email from BBTM with instructions on how to log in to your 2024-2025 account or call them directly to make any changes (payment plan, banking information, etc.) Your registration fee will be included with your July payment. If your daughter will not be returning for the 2024-2025 school year, please contact our registrar KATHY FLEISCHER. If you have any questions about your account, please contact TAMMY FINCH.
- CURRENT FRESHMAN PARENT REGISTRATION INFORMATION NIGHT – Save the date! Attention, all freshman parents: On Thursday, March 7, at 6:30 p.m. please join Dean of Studies Theresa Schuhmann for an online meeting in which she will provide information about the registration and course selection process for all freshman parents. We highly recommend you take advantage of this important informational session to help your daughters plan their course of study for their sophomore year. A link to the meeting will be available closer to the meeting date.
- PARENT POWERSCHOOL LOG IN FOR 2024-2025 REGISTRATION: We began meeting with freshmen, sophomores, and juniors regarding decision making around next year’s schedule earlier this month, and we will meet with students during LEAD & Learn on March 7 and 8 to prepare for our online registration for the 2024-2025 school year. This is a great time to have a conversation with your daughter about her classes for next year. More detailed information will follow, but please make note that you will need to log into your parent PowerSchool account to register your daughter for classes next year. If you have forgotten your parent username or password for PowerSchool, when you go to the login screen for PowerSchool, just click on the link “Having trouble signing in?” and follow the directions to obtain a forgotten username or forgotten password. Please contact kathy.fleischer@ahsrockets.org or brent.miller@ahsrockets.org if you have trouble logging in!

MONDAY OF MISSION WEEK DETAILS: The week of February 26-29 will be our 17th annual award-winning Mission Week. Our theme this year is “Remember Who You Are.”
MONDAY PROGRAM: On Monday of Mission Week, all students who are not on mission trips experience the same opportunities, while the rest of the week, activities are based on their grade level. Monday will begin with a keynote address by Fr. Tony Ricard. Fr. Tony is a priest in the Archdiocese of New Orleans, Campus Minister at St. Augustine High School, and Catholic chaplain for the New Orleans Saints professional football team. He is a sought-after speaker because of his storytelling ability, sense of humor, and powerful message. Then later in the day, students will cycle through three rotations. One involves the BLOOM Theatre Project which features students performing short plays written, directed, and acted by AHS students related to our theme, “Remember Who You Are.” And returning for the second year in a row is the Assumption TED Talk series that will spotlight a handful of students sharing powerful insights about remembering who they are in the classic TED Talk format. Additionally, students will experience two 30-minute learning opportunities from a wide range of sessions on topics related to life skills, creative arts, movement, and personal development, all designed to help students pursue passions and explore new interests.
