Dear Parents,

Next week is designated for parents and students to return to campus during the time assigned below to return and retrieve items from school.  Please be sure to place items being returned to school in a bag labeled with your daughter’s name and grade and if borrowed from a teacher – include the teacher’s name.  Any donated uniform or spirit wear should be bagged separately and labeled “Guidance Donations – Used Uniforms.”  Please place these bagged items in your trunk or back seat.  When arriving, please enter via Tyler Lane, pull into the CAC parking lot and loop around the CAC heading into the normal carpool line.  Please pull past the gym and stop at the courtyard opening.  There will be signs to direct you.  We ask that everyone stay in his/her car.  A staff member or APO volunteer will meet you at your car, obtain the student’s name, and pick up the bagged items to be returned to school. The staff member or volunteer will then return any items belonging to your daughter and place them in your trunk or backseat.  You then can exit onto Bardstown Road. For everyone’s safety, each person bringing items to and from cars will be wearing gloves and a mask

  • Current freshmen, sophomores, and juniors do not need to return their tablets.  As announced earlier, these students may keep their tablets for the summer.  Our plan is to reimage these tablets in the fall.
  • Current seniors must return their tablets.   Directions for doing so are included here and have been communicated to your daughter via email:  Graduating Senior Tablet PC Return and Purchase Information.  Seniors will still be able to purchase their tablet PC’s after they have been reimaged and directions and dates for doing so will be announced soon.

To keep this process running smoothly, we have assigned days and times to each student as outlined below.    If you have multiple students attending Assumption, we will bag these items together, and you/your daughters may come on the day and time assigned to your oldest daughter.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation to make this process successful!  If you have any questions or cannot make your assigned time, please contact Amy Schelb at 458-9551, option 0.   Also, please know that we have worked diligently to gather student belongings from lockers and classrooms and keep them organized.   However, we recognize that there may be some mix ups. In the event your daughter is missing something or receives an item that does not belong to her, please let us know by contacting Amy Schelb.

MAIN OFFICE AVAILABILITY:  To adhere to state mandates in response to the coronavirus and to continue to keep our entire community safe and healthy, our school building will remain closed to visitors until Monday, June 15.  If you need assistance during this time, please call Amy Schelb at 458-9551, option 0, or email at amy.schelb@ahsrockets.org.  Parents are asked to email or mail any school-related items instead of dropping them off at school.  If you do need to physically bring something to school, please contact Amy Schelb to schedule an appointment.   We will be publishing a revised schedule for June 15 and beyond very soon.

CURRENT PARENT SURVEY FOR STRATEGIC PLANNING:  AHS is developing its next strategic plan, and we need parent input to help define what success will look like for our school in the future.  We have extended the deadline for the survey and ask that you please take a few minutes and give us your feedback.  The survey will remain open until Friday, June 5 at 5:00 p.m. Link to survey:  Strategic Planning Survey to Parents.  We have also extended the deadline for our Current Student Survey for Strategic Planning and we ask parents to encourage their daughters to take the survey that has been emailed and provide us their input.

FINAL REPORT CARDS:  Final report cards for the 2019-2020 school year were emailed this morning.  If you did not receive your daughter’s report card, please email Kathy.Fleischer@ahsrockets.org.

SCHEDULES FOR 2020-2021: Rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors will receive their class lists for the 2020–2021 school year via email by mid-June.  We will notify you in the Rocket Report when those have been sent.  At that time, if your daughter is interested in changing her classes, we will communicate details for how students can be in touch with the deans to make these changes.

PURCHASING BOOKS FOR 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR:  Assumption’s MBS Direct bookstore will open on Monday, July 6, and our free shipping week will be July 6 – 12, 2020.  When you log onto MBSDirect.net with your daughter’s student ID number, it will link to her list of books.  Book titles and ISBN numbers will be available for purchase through MBS.  You are welcome to use this information to shop via other sources (ex. Amazon) if you would prefer.  Please pay special attention to any “student message” listed at the top of the page regarding digital versions of texts.  Most courses allow for student choice.  Also, all art fee courses must be paid via MBS Direct. Please note:  MBS Direct is the official supplier of textbooks for AHS students and works closely with the school to have all textbooks to the students by the start of school. If you choose to order books from a different online source, this needs to be done early enough to make sure the student has her books prior to the start of school; a student will not be excused from having a textbook if it was ordered late or from a vendor other than MBS Direct.

SUMMER READING:  Students received their summer reading requirements in English classes the last week of classes.  These requirements can also be found on the website through this link: SUMMER READING. Summer reading is an important component of the English curriculum, and the books read in the summer will be incorporated into the first unit of study in your daughter’s English class next school year.  PLEASE NOTE: If a student decides to make any schedule changes over the summer that result in a change in academic level for English, she is required to read the book assigned for that level, which may be a different book and/or a different assignment.  She will need to find the correct summer reading assignment on the website.

INCOMING FRESHMAN CLASS LISTS:  Class lists and information about buying books for incoming freshmen will be emailed to parents by the end of June once Algebra and World Language placement tests are graded and classes are assigned.

INCOMING FRESHMEN – CLASS OF 2024 IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Please continue to reference the special Class of 2024 website page for updates on important information for our freshmen.  You will still receive emails as communication, but you can always check back to the site for reference and any documents you may need.  PLEASE NOTE: All forms from registration that need to be turned in should be scanned and emailed OR sent by snail mail.  We cannot accept pictures of forms or accept drop-offs at school at this time. We hope that your daughter enjoyed her special delivery this week! If you have any additional questions or she did not receive her delivery, please feel free to contact the Main Office at 502-458-9551.

INCOMING FRESHMEN – SUMMER SEMINAR UPDATE:  Despite the global pandemic and restrictions still in place for schools, we still want to make your daughters feel welcomed and at home at Assumption by assisting them with their academic and social transition to high school.  To do this, we will offer all registered incoming freshmen a Summer Seminar program that combines virtual and in-person sessions. We will start with a virtual experience via email and Zoom in June, followed by a modified on-campus program in July (as allowed by and in accordance with CDC and state health and safety requirements).  We are excited to offer our modified Summer Seminar program for FREE this year.  If you already paid the $55 Summer Seminar registration fee, you will receive a refund in the next few weeks. Watch your email for a message from Dawn Deweese and our Guidance Department with information about registering for our June virtual experience and in-person July experience.

SHAHEEN’S JUNE UNIFORM SALE: Shaheen’s is once again open to the public and is celebrating with a special Uniform Sale through the month of June. You are invited to buy uniforms early and receive 15% off storewide discount. Please check out the Shaheen’s Flier for information about temporary store hours and discount information. We hope you will consider taking advantage of this special opportunity, especially if your daughter has grown over the past year and her uniform no longer fits properly or is beyond repair.  Rising sophomores will need ACTS pants for next year. If your non-senior daughter gets cold and would like to wear a sweatshirt at school, she will need to purchase a uniform quarter-zip sweatshirt if she doesn’t already have one. The June Uniform Sale would be a great time to make these purchases.  A neat and appropriate uniform teaches our students to have pride in their own appearance as well as in their school, so we ask for your help by investing in your daughter’s uniform for the 2020-2021 school year.

NATIONAL ACT FOR CLASS OF 2021:  We have rescheduled the National ACT at Assumption for the class of 2021 for Tuesday, October 6.  If students want to register for an ACT before that date, please go to www.actstudent.org.

CLASS OF 2021 – SENIOR PHOTOS:  A message from Illumination Photography Studio:  Senior year will be here before we know it, so before your daughter’s summer is all filled up, be sure to schedule her senior photo for Assumption. This link will let you know everything about the when, where, what, and how for your daughter’s senior photos:  bit.ly/AssumptionPhotos

JUNIOR SERVICE HOURS:  Parents of the Class of 2022 – Juniors are required to complete 15 hours of service within the next school year, and they can begin or complete these hours over the summer (depending on Covid-19 guidelines and any future directives from the governor at that time). Your daughter must complete the Junior ACTS Form on SharePoint before beginning service and log her hours on MobileServe as she completes them. More information can be found on the Junior ACTS Syllabus under SharePoint – Campus Ministry – ACTS.

CARPOOL INFORMATION FOR PARENTS OF INCOMING FRESHMEN AND RISING SOPHOMORES:  Assumption will again partner with CarpoolToSchool.com for the 2020-2021 school year—this online service creates an Assumption-only network that allows parents and students to set up carpools  that others can ask to join or request to join a carpool that has already been set up by an AHS junior or senior who drives to school or another AHS parent. This is one of the many ways that we build community, respect the environment, and try to be good neighbors by reducing the amount of school-related traffic on Bardstown Road. You should have already received an email from CarpoolToSchool.com inviting you to participate.  Well over 100 juniors/seniors have already set up carpools in CTS and one of them might be the answer to your school transportation prayer! Parents of rising juniors and seniors who are interested in using this service may log on to CarpoolToSchool.com and access their already existing accounts; just “request a new password” if you don’t remember what you set up previously. If you have any difficulties setting up or accessing a CarpoolToSchool account, please contact Angie Dusch, assistant to the deans, and she will be happy to help you.

BOOK BUYBACKS:  Please view the flyer and video linked below for instructions on how to return your daughter’s books to MBS through their Online Buyback Program since we will be unable to facilitate an EZ drop buyback due to our building closure.  For questions, please contact vb@bncservices.com or call 1.800.325.3252 as their customer service support line is open 24/7.

SUMMER CAMPS: At this time, we have decided that it is best for our community, future Rockets, and their families that we not host any camps in June. That said, we are working diligently to try and host camps throughout July. Knowing that we need to plan for additional requirements to keep all participants and instructors safe and healthy, we will continue to monitor the Governors guidelines and the recommendations of health care experts. Once the Governor releases the guidelines necessary we will be able to make a better decision about our ability to follow through with our plan to host July camps. We are hopeful that we will be together soon to enjoy these opportunities and appreciate your patience as we navigate this process. We invite you to check out our updated July Summer Camps, some with adjusted dates and times, here. Registration will reopen online once we have more information and the guidelines from the Governor.

Gratefully,

Martha Tedesco

Principal
