Online Subscription Databases & eBook Collections

 Our online databases connect teachers and students with research-based journal articles, magazine articles, newspaper articles, encyclopedia articles, online biographies, videos, image libraries, reliable websites, and a variety of eBooks. 

Students are also encouraged to get a Louisville Free Public Library card and username so they can access all of their databases, many of which we use regularly for school projects!
Students may access our databases using the links listed below, but will need to have the usernames and passwords available on Student SharePoint.

Biblical Archaeology Society Online Library
This collection provides our theology department and theology students access to a wide range of resources for class. 

Bloom’s Literature
This database provides access to a variety of literary criticisms.  Search by author, literary piece, or theme.  It also has videos and images. 

Gale in Context:  High School
This database provides access to a variety of research resources and tools, including:  academic journals, magazines, newspapers, reference materials, primary sources, images, and videos to be used for research and presentations on any given topic.  

Gale in Context:  Opposing ViewPoints
This database provides access to a variety of research resources and tools, including:  academic journals, magazines, newspapers, reference materials, primary sources, images, and videos to be used for research and presentations on any given topic.  It also includes “viewpoint” papers on a plethora of debatable topics. Viewpoint papers are always available on both sides of the debate so our budding researchers make sure they examine and address both sides of an argument.

Gale eBooks
This eBook collection, which is also accessible via our Destiny Discover Online Card Catalog, is our modern day reference shelf! Our students will find the bulk of our reference material in this growing eBook collection.  Because the majority of items in this collection are encyclopedia sets, each icon represents anywhere from 1-30 volumes, depending on the title.

InfoBase eBooks 
Teachers and students may use InfoBase to access over 5,000 non-fiction and reference eBooks. All of these eBooks are searchable through Destiny Online Card Catalog as well.  

JLG Digital 
This subscription streaming service for eBooks provides access to a variety of fiction and nonfiction titles. Because it is a streaming service, new books will be added throughout the year and other titles will expire (date will always be noted).

Louisville Courier-Journal
This subscription provides access to the e-edition of the Louisville Courier-Journal.  This subscription runs from August 15, 2020 through May 11, 2021. 

Naviance
This database provides information about colleges and careers. 

New York Times
All Assumption High School students, faculty, and staff have access to the NY Times online. If you need help with your account, contact the Media Center staff for assistance.

Vocational Biographies
This database provides personal interviews with people working in a variety of career fields as well as general career information. 

USA Today
This subscription provides access to the e-edition of USA Today.  This subscription runs from August 15, 2020 through May 11, 2021. 

World News Digest
This Infobase resource provides access to over 300,000+ news articles ranging from 1940 to present day. Students can also access videos, background information on over 200 countries, landmark events in history, U.S. and international editorials for greater perspective, extensive coverage of U.S. presidential elections, World Almanac content, authoritative facts and statistics, along with features such as “This Day in History”.  Students of history and current events will enjoy the easy-to-navigate interface and are sure to find content to support their projects and research!
