Pink & White Game
Four Schools. Two Rivalries. One Cause. Everyone Wins.
The Pink & White Game is one of Assumption High School’s most beloved traditions, an evening that brings together students, families, alumni, and the greater Louisville community in support of a cause bigger than ourselves: breast cancer awareness and research. What began as a Senior Dream in 2007 has grown into a powerful, four-school collaboration between Assumption High School, Sacred Heart Academy, St. Xavier High School, and Trinity High School, uniting fierce rivalries for a shared mission of service, leadership, and hope.
Our Story
The Pink & White Game was first imagined by Assumption junior Stephanie Coy ’08 during our annual Senior Dream Assembly, an opportunity for rising seniors to come up with ideas for events, programming, campus improvements, and more that can come to fruition. Stephanie's Senior Dream was:
a flag football game where girls take the field and boys perform a choreographed halftime dance, all while raising money for breast cancer awareness and research.
What organizers expected to be a small crowd of a few hundred quickly turned into a sea of pink when more than 3,000 spectators showed up for the inaugural game. Nearly $12,000 was raised that first year, and a tradition was born. Today, the Pink & White Game stands as a testament to the power of student leadership and interschool collaboration, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars over its lifetime for local breast cancer partners.
Game Day Experience
The Pink & White Game is more than a competition. It is a meaningful, mission-driven experience that includes:
- Girls’ Flag Football Game featuring seniors from Assumption and Sacred Heart
- Boys’ Halftime Dance Performances by students from St. Xavier and Trinity
- Opening Prayer & National Anthem led by student leaders
- Survivor Ceremony, honoring those currently battling breast cancer and remembering those lost through a moving on-field presentation and moment of silence
Each element of the evening is intentionally student-led, from marketing and media packages to event logistics and ceremony planning—reinforcing the leadership and mission-centered values of our school communities.
Student Leadership at the Core
At its foundation, the Pink & White Game reflects Assumption’s commitment to forming young women who lead with courage, compassion, and purpose. More than 150 seniors across the four schools participate each year as athletes, dancers, organizers, and ambassadors for the cause, supported by faculty, administrators, and parent volunteers.
Students also create promotional materials, including flyers, posters, tickets, and social media campaigns, ensuring the mission and message of the event reach far beyond game night.

Pink & White is a powerful reminder of what can happen when schools come together in unity, compassion, and faith. Through friendly rivalry and shared purpose, we stand together and continue to honor survivors, support families, and inspire hope—year after year.

Impact Beyond the Field
The heart of the Pink & White Game is service. Proceeds from ticket sales, t-shirts, and donations directly benefit local breast cancer organizations, including Norton Healthcare Cancer Institute and Gilda’s Club Kentuckiana. As of 2025, the Pink & White Game has raised over $446,000 in support of breast cancer awareness, treatment, and patient services, making a tangible difference in the lives of families throughout our community.
