2020 Athletic Director of the Year
The Kentucky High School Athletic Directors’ Association (KHSADA) is pleased to announce Angela Passafiume, Athletic Director at Assumption High School as the 2020 KHSADA’s Athletic Director of the Year.
Angela’s programs have won five National Titles and 21 State Titles. She is a member of the NIAAA, KHSADA, & Metro Area AD’s. She has served on the NFHS Field Hockey Rules Committee, NFHS Officials Committee, KHSAA Track and Field Advisory Committee, KHSAA Basketball Advisory Committee, KHSAA Bowling Advisory Committee and the University of Louisville SPAD Advisory Committee. She is a constant promoter in encouraging young people to become sports officials and is an advocate for Assigners and Officials in all sports. Angela has been a speaker at the sport administration and officiating classes at the University of Louisville, University of Kentucky and Eastern Kentucky University and is the founder of the annual Pink and White Game in Louisville where four catholic high schools in her area come together for a sellout event. This event will celebrate its 13th year and now has raised and donated over $318,000 to breast cancer awareness. She has helped organize and conduct numerous Middle and Elementary school track meets and served as a retreat Leader through Assumption’s retreat program since 2005. Angela is an advocate for adapted sports and supports the SOKY programs. In recent years at Assumption she launched a complete Strength and Conditioning Athletic Program 2019 including yoga, started a school Mascot Team in 2017, and played an instrumental role in the addition of an Indoor Softball Facility.
Passafiume was selected through a process which begins with each of the 16 regions (see attached) in the state determining their regional winner, regional winners are narrowed down to five by a vote of the KHSADA’s Board of Directors’ and staff. The five finalists are presented to the membership who can cast their vote for the Athletic Director of the Year.
The mission of the Kentucky High School Athletic Directors’ Association is to serve its members by providing leadership skills and professional growth opportunities. As a partner with the Kentucky High School Athletic Association, the KHSADA promotes positive working relationships between the two organizations and their respective member schools and athletic administrators. Furthermore, the KHSADA strives to develop, enhance, preserve, and promote the educational value of interscholastic athletics.
