April 24, 2026

School spirit is high for the 19th Annual Pink & White Game tonight!  At our spring pep rally today, students participated in our annual bleacher dance competition and watched our Team Pink hype video – reminding our team and the entire student body of the true meaning of the game. As some of you may not know, the game originated at Assumption High School’s annual Senior Dream Assembly for juniors. In 2007, one junior came up with the idea of a flag football game with rival Sacred Heart as a fundraiser for breast cancer. A few hundred parents and students were expected at the first game held at Saint Xavier High School. However, due to the Assumption seniors’ school spirit and social media campaign on a new platform called Facebook, more than 3,000 attended!  Nearly $12,000 was collected, and a community tradition was born. Nineteen years later, what started with a few students has grown into a full-fledged main event with thousands of attendees sporting pink or white to support Louisville area cancer patients. The proceeds from the game sales are donated to the Norton Healthcare Breast Health Program and Gilda’s Club of Kentucky. Since its inception, the Pink and White Game has raised nearly $450,000, living up to the game’s motto: “Four Schools, Two Rivalries, One Cause: Everyone Wins!” The spirit of the game is a testament to how young people, educated in a tradition of service, faith, and excellence at each of the schools, can truly make a difference in this world! We are so happy this tradition continues and are proud to be a part of it!

Shelby’s Pink Pause

If you’ve noticed giant pink snails making their way across Louisville lately, it’s not your imagination. This spring, the Pink Snail Migration, a citywide moving art installation created in support of the Norton Cancer Institute Breast Health Program, has been popping up across our community as part of the Hermitage Art Walk. Each snail symbolizes something powerful: raising awareness for breast health, encouraging early detection, and reminding our community that meaningful change often comes one steady step at a time.

That’s where Shelby comes in. Shelby is one of the pink snails traveling on this journey, and we were thrilled to welcome her to Assumption on the day of our Pink & White Game, right in the heart of Pink Week.

Her visit couldn’t have been more fitting. Pink Week is about standing together in support of those affected by breast cancer, celebrating hope, and making visible our commitment to care for one another. Like the Norton Cancer Institute’s art installations along the Hermitage Art Walk, Shelby’s quiet presence sparked conversation, connection, and purpose…right here on Rocket grounds.

Slow, steady, visible, and full of heart, Shelby felt right at home with the Rockets.

PINK AND WHITE GAME: The nineteenth annual Pink and White Game will be held at St. Xavier High School tonight, Friday, April 24, at 7:00 p.m. Opening ceremonies will begin at 6:30 p.m. The gates will open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets will NOT be sold at the door.  Please note: All schools have agreed that there will be no tailgating at this event, and we highly encourage carpooling to the game!

ROSE THEATRE COMPANY’S SPRING PLAY – JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH: Rose Theatre Company is excited to present this spring’s play, James and the Giant Peach! This fast-paced, imaginative adaptation follows James Henry Trotter as he escapes his miserable life inside a magical, oversized peach and embarks on a daring journey filled with humor, heart, and unexpected friends. Along the way, he faces danger with courage and cleverness—guided by lively narrators and invitations to the audience to join the fun. With its playful storytelling and interactive moments, this production is especially welcoming for families and younger audience members—though there’s plenty for all ages to enjoy! Remaing performance dates: Saturday, April 25, and Sunday, April 26 at 2 p.m. Tickets: CUR8 – James and the Giant Peach Details

RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE IN HONOR OF SOPHOMORE STUDENT: Assumption is hosting an American Red Cross blood drive on Wednesday, April 29. This drive will be in honor of sophomore Kaitlyn Clements, who has been battling leukemia since November. As a community, we will be supporting Kaitlyn and raising awareness about the critical need that cancer patients have for blood. Kaitlyn has had 25 blood transfusions so far during her treatment. Student donors must be at least 16 years old. Students who are 16 must have parental permission; students 17 and older may give without parental permission. Student sign-ups will begin soon. We encourage you to talk with your daughter about how to prepare for being a donor if she expresses interest. The Red Cross provides more information for students at this link: Red Cross Student Guide to Blood Donation.pdf.

AP CAPSTONE SHOWCASE: All are invited to attend the Senior AP Capstone showcase on Wednesday, April 29 at 6:30 p.m. in the Media Center.  This year’s AP Research students will share their graduate-level yearlong research projects in an engaging and interesting manner.

SCHOOL HOLIDAY: Friday, May 1 is a school holiday and the school will be closed.

ASSUMPTION PARENT PRAYER: Parent Prayer will meet on Wednesday, April 29 from 8:15-8:45 a.m. in the chapel. Please park in any open space and enter the school through the main entrance.  We will pray for all faculty, staff, and administration.  This will also be the final parent prayer gathering. Please join us for any or all of these opportunities!

PRAYER INTENTIONS: All Assumption parents and alumnae are invited to share prayer intentions. Periodically, we will include the line of “prayer intentions posted online by AHS parents and alumnae” as part of our morning prayer over the P.A. Likewise, feel free to include the intentions you find there in your own personal prayer. To participate, please follow this link.

WE NEED YOUR VOTE! Last year, Assumption was chosen as the Best Private High School in Louisville by the Courier-Journal as part of its Community Choice Awards, which recognizes the top organizations and businesses in 25 different categories.  We are honored to be nominated again this year!   We are asking our families to support Assumption so we can again be recognized as the best of the best here in Louisville. Voting is open until Thursday, April 30, and you can vote once per day.   Click here to vote.

END-OF-THE-YEAR TECHNOLOGY INFORMATION FOR ALL STUDENTS:

A member of our IT Department will share the following information with our students in one of their May class meetings.

  • All students must turn in their HP laptop to the Boeckmann Lab by their last day of classes. Seniors must turn in their HP laptops on their last day of classes or after their last exam. We must have them turned in before graduation. All other students need to turn them in on or before May 21.
  • Graduating seniors may purchase their HP laptops for $5.00. However, they must turn them in and tell us then if they want to purchase them so we can remove the school software. The graduates may pick up their purchased HP laptops starting the week of June 8. Come to the Boeckmann Lab Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
  • If a senior wants to purchase her HP laptop, the $5.00 fee, (cash or check, no credit cards) will be collected when she comes to pick it up. The HP laptops not purchased by the seniors will be placed in our school loaner pool or will be used for parts to fix other computers.
  • The PC warranty and accidental damage protection ends the day before graduation. Also, graduated seniors’ AHS email and all Microsoft products will be deactivated on August 1. Please make the proper accommodations for removing all important information from these places.
  • Rising seniors may pick up their HP laptops starting the week of July 13 and rising sophomores and juniors starting the week of July 20. Come to the Boeckmann Lab Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. -3:00 p.m.  HP laptops can only be given to students who come with their school-issued case to pick up. This is a requirement for our accidental damage insurance.
  • If your student is participating in a summer activity through Assumption and will need access to her laptop, please have her reach out to the IT Department and the faculty member coordinating that activity to make arrangements for keeping or picking up her laptop.

PARKING FOR JUNIORS AND SENIORS FOR NEXT YEAR: Our current sophomores and juniors will soon be given detailed information about parking for next year at upcoming class meetings. Students need to have their driver’s license to apply for a parking space. We ask that students submit their own parking information online and work with Ms. Wesley and Mrs. Park themselves to take care of the parking process. Students will receive all of the needed information for parking links in their email. Parking is assigned based on several factors including carpool and seniority.

  • Monday, July 13, 3:00 p.m.: Deadline for submitting a parking payment and information for space assignment before school starts
  • Monday, July 13, 3:00 p.m.: Deadline for having passengers set up in CarpoolToSchool.com

If your daughter plans to drive to school next year, please encourage her to consider giving a ride to another student to/from school, practice, etc. It builds community, is good for the environment, and helps Assumption be a good neighbor by reducing the amount of school-related traffic in our area.

CARPOOL INFORMATION FOR PARENTS: Assumption is pleased to announce that we will again partner with CarpoolToSchool.com for the 2026-2027 school year. This online service creates an Assumption-only network that allows parents and students to set up carpools to and/or from school. Requests for carpools can also be made on the site. Parents of incoming freshmen and rising sophomores should be receiving an email from CarpoolToSchool.com in mid-May inviting them to participate (check your junk folder if you don’t see it in your Inbox).  Parents of rising juniors and seniors who are also interested in using this service may utilize CarpoolToSchool. General questions about CarpoolToSchool may be directed to Tatum Park in the Main Office.

MERCY AMBASSADORS PROGRAM: The Mercy Ambassadors Program (MAP) is our exchange student program with our partner school, Santa Ethnea, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In this program, Assumption students host a student from Argentina for a month during the school year and then travel to Argentina for a month in the following summer to experience a full immersion in the language and culture of her partner student. It is an amazing experience for students to grow both academically and personally. Through this program, our students gain meaningful lifelong relationships and experiences they will never forget. We are hosting information sessions for students who are interested in applying to the program and want to extend the invitation to these meetings to parents as it truly is a whole family experience. We will have a meeting at 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28 in the chapel and at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29 in the chapel. Students will also be able to attend information meetings during RTI time on Wednesday, April 29. To apply, students must attend one of these meetings; attendance is not mandatory for parents. If you have questions, please reach out to Katie Culver, katie.culver@ahsrockets.org.

AP EXAMS: AP exams will be held Monday, May 4 through Friday, May 15. Important information about the testing days and testing site as well as how to help your daughter be prepared can be found through this link: AP GENERAL INFORMATION AND SCHEDULE OF EXAMS

ASSUMPTION PARENT ORGANIZATION (APO) NEWS:

  • Teacher Appreciation: As we near the end of this school year, we’d like to take some time to show the AHS faculty and staff how much we appreciate all they do for our daughters. During the week of May 4-8, we are planning to show our appreciation to the faculty and staff. We are asking parents to contribute to this event, if so inclined, by sending in gift cards or monetary donations. You can send these in with your daughters or drop them off to the main office to the attention of Sarah Brady in the Advancement Department. You can also send monetary donations to the AHS Venmo using this link https://www.venmo.com/u/AssumptionHighSchool with “Faculty/Staff Appreciation” in the description line.  Please note there is currently a scam account on Venmo using a very similar account name and our logo. Using our link will ensure your donation is going to the correct place. If possible, please send these in by May 4. Any donation is appreciated.
  • Call for Class Representatives: Are you interested in getting more involved in the APO? We are looking for class representatives for the 2026-2027 school year, especially for our rising sophomores and incoming freshmen. For more information, please contact Kelly Doyle (APO President) at APO@ahsrockets.org.

SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT GRADUATION TICKETS: Seniors received their graduation tickets yesterday at the end of Senior Celebration Day. If your family will not be using all ten (10) of the allotted graduation tickets given to your senior, please have her bring them to the main office so they can be distributed to another senior who is in need of extra tickets.  Thank you!

SERVICE HOURS REMINDER: This is a reminder that juniors who are currently taking Catholic Social Teaching have the remainder of their 15 Junior ACTS service hours due on Thursday, April 30.  All hours will need to be completed, logged, and verified in MobileServe by 8:10 a.m. to receive full credit. Please reach out to Katie Culver katie.culver@ahsrockets.org if you have any questions.

GSP APPLICATIONS AND STANDARDIZED TESTS:  Sophomores interested in applying for the Governor’s Scholars Program (GSP) next fall are encouraged to take an ACT in June or July, and/or an SAT in June in addition to the standardized tests offered through AHS in the fall. Doing this will help students to achieve the best possible score prior to the application deadline.
