President and the Principal, Mary Lang and Martha Tedesco
The Community of Assumption wishes all of our families a safe spring break and a blessed Easter. May we share together in this prayer for Easter:
Good and gracious God,
We praise you and thank you for the gift of new life in the Risen Jesus.
May we be like the women at the empty tomb and the disciples on the road to Emmaus
who welcome Christ into our homes and hearts even when we are confused or afraid.
Help us to be open to the Paschal Mystery at work in our own lives
so that we may truly be people of the Resurrection.
Amen.

Holy Week Prayer Service
As we approach Good Friday, the Assumption community gathered in stillness for a deeply reflective Stations of the Cross prayer service. Seated together, students were invited to enter the story of Jesus’ journey to the Cross through scripture, student voices, music, silence, and visual reflection. Each station encouraged thoughtful prayer around themes of burden, compassion, dignity, and hope. Students reflected on the weight we all carry, the moments when we stumble and fall, and the courage it takes to rise again with faith.
Throughout the service, students considered the quiet acts of compassion along Jesus’ path. Simon helping to carry what was too heavy, Veronica choosing to truly see and honor dignity, and Mary remaining present in love and sorrow. In moments of silence, students were reminded that even in suffering and uncertainty, God remains near.
Again and again, our community returned to a shared prayer that shaped the experience and invited personal reflection: Create a new heart in me, O God.
This prayer service offered students a meaningful opportunity to pause, reflect, and prepare their hearts for Good Friday, as we continue our Lenten journey together as a faith-filled community.

SPRING BREAK: Spring break will begin Friday, April 3 since we met our Rocket Raffle ticket sale incentive. School will resume on Monday, April 13.

ASSUMPTION PARENT PRAYER: Parent Prayer will meet on Wednesday, April 15 from 8:15-8:45 a.m. in the chapel. Please park in any open space and enter the school through the main entrance. We will pray for all seniors. Please join us for any or all of these opportunities!
PRAYER INTENTIONS: All Assumption parents and alumnae are invited to share prayer intentions. Periodically, we will include the line of “prayer intentions posted online by AHS parents and alumnae” as part of our morning prayer over the P.A. Likewise, feel free to include the intentions you find there in your own personal prayer. To participate, please follow this link.

Our Family Council is excited to once again host our Compassion Connections program, a program originating from a senior dream idea over eight years ago and growing into a school-supported initiative. Compassion Connections is a way to connect our Assumption students to local service agencies in order to provide support in ways that make an impact. Family Council will host a schoolwide Service Fair during the school day on Monday, April 13. More than10 local agencies will be visiting during RTI time in order to connect with students and provide information about how students can complete service at their agency in areas related to help for the homeless, support for women and families, care and maintenance of the Earth, and advocacy for those with developmental disabilities, the elderly, and animals. Students will need to sign up to attend in the RTI scheduling software. This event comes at a great time for students to consider their Junior ACTS service requirement and aligns with our mission, compassion inspires. While matching students with agencies is important, Family Council has also worked with these agencies to compile acts of service during RTI time on Wednesday, April 15 and Friday, April 17 to feel the immediate impact of working together as a community and earn service hours.

FINAL CALL FOR KHEAA DUAL CREDIT SCHOLARSHIPS: On Monday, March 30, Mrs. Fieldhouse and Ms. Friedenberg hosted the final RTI session for KHEAA dual credit scholarship enrollment. Please check your email to make sure you didn’t receive an email from Jenny Friedenberg on Monday, March 30 letting you know that your daughter still needed to fill out the scholarship. They will close the portal over Spring Break. If the correct selections have not been made, parents/guardians will be billed a fee by the college or university at which their daughter is currently earning college credit. If you have any questions, please email Jenny.Friedenberg@ahsrockets.org or Judy.Fieldhouse@ahsrockets.org. You can also find instructions for KHEAA scholarship selections here. If you are unsure which scholarship, college/university, or semester your daughter should have selected, please see information about the DC classes offered at Assumption on page 4 of the course catalog. https://www.ahsrockets.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Course-Catalog-26-27.pdf. Our partner colleges/universities have also started sending bills to families for course fees. If you believe you have received a bill in error, and that a fee should have been covered by a KHEAA scholarship, please reach out to Jenny.Friedenberg@ahsrockets.org. She will be happy to look at your daughter’s KHEAA scholarship selections.
