Deans of Studies – Judy Fieldhouse and Theresa Schuhmann
As we step into March, we can’t help but feel a renewed sense of excitement and energy working alongside our students during this pivotal time of the school year. Over the past few weeks, we’ve had the pleasure of partnering with our dedicated school counselors, focusing on guiding students through thoughtful decision making as they plan for the upcoming school year. Some of our teachers have begun individual recommendation sessions with students and those will be completed for all freshmen, sophomores, and juniors on Monday and Tuesday of next week. These conversations are fantastic opportunities for students to seek advice, clarify their goals, and make informed choices about their academic future. We will be holding our final presentations about the registration process for the 2026-2027 school year during Community Time next week. Additionally, teachers of elective courses have visited class meetings to inform sophomores and juniors about their options and will meet with freshmen next week. We have dedicated time to not only clarifying the logistics of registration but, perhaps even more importantly, giving students space to explore the diverse range of courses available to them.
Supporting students as they map out their academic journeys and dream big is truly the most rewarding aspect of our work. We want to remind everyone that each student’s class counselor is an invaluable resource throughout this process, providing guidance and answering questions at every step. For your reference, linked here are the instructions your daughter received in her class meeting this week, which outline the steps needed to complete registration. We encourage you to review the COURSE CATALOG and these instructions together and take some time to have meaningful conversations as she considers her options for next year.

CHOIR GOES ON THE ROAD
This week Assumption’s Advanced Choir participated in the Athena Choral Festival at Murray State University, and it was an irreplaceable experience! Students got to work with Dr. Katy Green, Director of Choral Activities & Assistant Professor of Music Education at Pacific University. They sang for her and took in crucial advice and feedback. They also performed alongside five other schools for the festival. This was truly an experience of a lifetime, and we are so proud of our AHS Advanced Choir!

SENIORS – MOTHER/DAUGHTER BREAKFAST: We will celebrate seniors and their mothers or mother figures at the Mother/Daughter Breakfast tomorrow, Saturday, March 7, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel by the airport (830 Phillips Lane Louisville, KY 40209) from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Optional pictures will be available beginning at 8:00 a.m.
MID-SEMESTER PARENT/TEACHER/STUDENT CONFERENCE COMMUNICATION: This semester, teachers will be sending an email to the parents of any student whose grade in their class is a D or F as of yesterday Thursday, March 5. We ask all parents who receive an email to respond in a timely fashion. Parents may request a conference virtually through Teams during the conference window of Tuesday, March 10 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. A link will be provided in the teacher’s email. Of course, any parent may request a conference call via phone or team or in-person meeting with a teacher at any time during the school year to discuss a student’s progress in a course. We appreciate your shared commitment to our partnership to best help our students achieve academic success.

ASSUMPTION PARENT PRAYER: Parent Prayer will meet on Wednesday, March 11 from 8:15-8:45 a.m. in the chapel. Please park in any open space and enter the school through the main entrance. We will pray for the Limerick juniors and seniors. Please join us for any or all of these opportunities!
PRAYER INTENTIONS: All Assumption parents and alumnae are invited to share prayer intentions. Periodically, we will include the line of “prayer intentions posted online by AHS parents and alumnae” as part of our morning prayer over the P.A. Likewise, feel free to include the intentions you find there in your own personal prayer. To participate, please follow this link.

TUITION ASSISTANCE AND SCHOLARSHIP LETTERS: Tuition assistance and scholarship letters were emailed to families today, March 6, using the email address listed in FACTS. Scholarships are awarded on an annual basis and are determined through a thoughtful and thorough review process. Each year, the scholarship committee carefully considers a large number of applications in order to distribute available funds in a way that best supports our school community. With more than 1,000 applications submitted this year, the selection process is highly competitive and requires many difficult decisions. If your daughter did not receive a scholarship for the upcoming year, she will have the opportunity to apply again for the 2027–2028 school year. We encourage families to continue to apply for aid, as circumstances and available funding may change from year to year. Please note: if your daughter’s account is delinquent, an award letter cannot be issued until the account is current. If you have any questions regarding your financial aid award, please contact our Executive Director of Finance, Jessica Thompson, at jessica.thompson@ahsrockets.org or 271-2529.
LEAD & LEARN DAY – Wednesday, March 25: While our faculty and staff will be participating in a professional development day, our students will utilize this day from home as a LEAD & Learn Day. As they were in October, students will be asked to identify how they can most productively utilize the day to achieve academic and co-curricular outcomes for the semester and may choose to engage in a variety of activities to accomplish these goals. These could include catching up on homework or working ahead on a project, writing college essays or completing college applications, making a college visit, completing service hours, or engaging in standardized test prep. This could also include some time for rest, mindfulness, or exercise. As a final step in solidifying their purposeful use of the day, students will be required to submit their plans for the day by 12:00 p.m. via email through an Attendance Forms Survey. This survey will serve as their virtual attendance for the day.
ABSENCES BEFORE/AFTER SPRING BREAK: Please note that absences directly before or after Spring Break will count toward semester absence totals. Also, missing the day before or after Spring Break without a medical note will result in an academic penalty of a 50% reduction on assignments missed. If your daughter is sick before or after Spring Break, please submit a medical note to the Attendance Office so that this can be noted on your daughter’s attendance record. Full details about our attendance policies and procedures can be found in the Student-Family Handbook.

LETTERS FROM COLLEGES: Attention, senior parents! Please have your senior daughters submit ALL letters received from colleges regarding admissions decisions, scholarship offers, and admission to special programs and honors colleges to the Guidance Office. The majority of colleges DO NOT provide this information directly to high schools, so your daughter is often our only source of information about this. Her timely sharing of this information is vital to the Senior Honors Celebration as we work to make sure we have all the correct information to celebrate your daughter and the Class of 2026. These letters can be hard copies, faxes, or scanned copies and can be emailed directly to COLLEGE.LETTERS@ahsrockets.org. We ask that students submit all of this information by Monday, March 23, 2026.

DRESS CODE FOR SENIOR PROM: Seniors will receive information about their senior prom at an upcoming class meeting and via email. Senior prom will be held Friday, May 8, at the Mellwood Art Center from 6-11 p.m. Unlike other Assumption dances, the senior prom is a formal dance, and our Dean of Students, Kamaria Wesley, will review information about our dress code for a formal dance with the seniors; she will also email information about the dress code for the dance to all the seniors. Ms. Wesley recommends that students ask parents for advice in following the dress code guidelines to make sure they are dressed appropriately for a Catholic high school dance. We are counting on you to help your daughter evaluate some of the current fashion trends. As the dance gets closer, we will share information about our usual dance policies and expectations along with other specific information about senior prom in class meetings and with reminder emails and announcements.

ACT FOR JUNIORS: On Tuesday, March 24, all juniors will take the ACT at Assumption at 8:50 a.m. Juniors will be dismissed at approximately 12:15 on this day. Just like in October, there is no makeup date for this ACT at AHS, no signup is needed on the part of each family, and this test fee is covered by your tuition dollars. You can read more about ACT school day testing at this link. This score can be sent to colleges and universities and used for admission and scholarship purposes. Please contact COLLEEN MURPHY if you have any questions.
JUNIOR PROM: The Junior Prom will be held on Saturday, March 28 from 8:00-11:00 p.m. in the Assumption gym. The junior class moderators and class officers have been hard at work in the process of planning the details for the big semiformal event, and many juniors have already started shopping for the dance. With this in mind, our Dean of Students, Kamaria Wesley, will share a video with all juniors to review information about our dress code for dances with the students and students may email with questions. Please take a few minutes to review the dress code with your daughter so you can help her know what is expected as she is deciding what to wear to the event. As you will see in the information, Ms. Wesley recommends that they ask parents for advice in following the guidelines to make sure they are dressed appropriately for a Catholic high school dance. We are counting on you to help your daughter evaluate some of the current fashion trends. As the dance gets closer, we will share information about our usual dance policies and expectations along ticket details in a class meeting and with reminder emails and announcements.
