February 26, 2026

Pope Francis once stated that “God’s mercy transforms human hearts; it enables us, through the experience of a faithful love, to become merciful in turn.” During this Mission Week, our students have fully experienced how to be merciful and grounded in faithful love through their Mission Week activities. They have learned that they are valuable people, that everyone has dignity and worth, and what they do and say really does make a difference! In the end, whether experiencing something as big as a mission trip or something as small as an act of kindness, our students’ hearts have grown fully and faithfully. Our hope is that they have been inspired to continue to “make their mark” throughout the year – intellectually, physically, spiritually, and interpersonally. Thank you for your prayers and support of your daughters during this very special week!

This week, we also finally got to honor and celebrate our amazing President, Mary Lang, for winning the Distinguished Catholic School Leader Award from the Archdiocese of Louisville. We were so grateful to welcome Amy Nall, Superintendent for Catholic Schools, and Trevor Timmerberg, Assistant Superintendent for Catholic Schools, who presented the award to Mary.

TED TALKS

Our fourth annual Assumption TED Talks took place today as a part of Mission Week! This started as a senior dream from Alumna, Mary Claire Schmidt ’23. She envisioned an opportunity for students to share lessons they’ve learned through pivotal experiences in their lives. The young women selected to speak this year did an outstanding job with sharing their stories, speaking in front of large audiences, and being vulnerable. Through the TED Talks, we are connected on a deeper level as a school, a community, and a family. We are so appreciative of these students for sharing what has significantly impacted them, and for inspiring those around them to believe in themselves! Please join us in congratulating these students! Claire Pyles ’27, Rosie Wolfram ’27, Eva Smith ’26 (Emcee), PJ Harris ’27, Bailey Ruffin ’27

MISSION WEEK HOLIDAY: There is no school on Friday, February 27.

CURRENT FRESHMAN PARENT REGISTRATION INFORMATION NIGHT: Attention, all freshman parents: On Thursday, March 5, at 6:30 p.m. please join Dean of Studies Theresa Schuhmann for an online meeting in which she will provide information about the registration and course selection process for all freshman parents. We highly recommend you take advantage of this important informational session to help your daughters plan their course of study for their sophomore year.  A link to the meeting will be emailed by your daughter’s counselor, Lynnzi Bader, next week.

ASSUMPTION PARENT PRAYER: Due to Mission Week, Parent Prayer will resume and meet on Wednesday, March 4 from 8:15-8:45 a.m. in the chapel. Please park in any open space and enter the school through the main entrance.  We will pray for the Limerick freshmen and sophomores. Please join us for any or all of these opportunities!

PRAYER INTENTIONS: All Assumption parents and alumnae are invited to share prayer intentions. Periodically, we will include the line of “prayer intentions posted online by AHS parents and alumnae” as part of our morning prayer over the P.A. Likewise, feel free to include the intentions you find there in your own personal prayer. To participate, please follow this link.

MID-SEMESTER PARENT/TEACHER/STUDENT CONFERENCE COMMUNICATION: This semester, teachers will be sending an email to the parents of any student whose grade in their class is a D or F as of Thursday, March 5.  We ask all parents who receive an email to respond in a timely fashion. Parents may request a conference virtually through Teams during the conference window of Tuesday, March 10 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. A link will be provided in the teacher’s email. Of course, any parent may request a conference call via phone or team or in-person meeting with a teacher at any time during the school year to discuss a student’s progress in a course.  We appreciate your shared commitment to our partnership to best help our students achieve academic success.

ABSENCES BEFORE/AFTER SPRING BREAK: Please note that absences directly before or after Spring Break will count toward semester absence totals. Also, missing the day before or after Spring Break without a medical note will result in an academic penalty of a 50% reduction on assignments missed. If your daughter is sick before or after Spring Break, please submit a medical note to the Attendance Office so that this can be noted on your daughter’s attendance record. Full details about our attendance policies and procedures can be found in the Student-Family Handbook.

2026-2027 TENTATIVE SCHOOL CALENDAR: We are in the process of building the 2026-2027 school calendar. Although we have not finalized the calendar, we recognize that our families may need general calendar information in advance. To help with this need, the tentative key calendar dates for 2026-2027 are now posted on our website through this link:  Important Tentative Calendar Dates 2026-2027
