Director of Marketing and Admissions, Elisabeth Cassady ’02
Fall is always an exciting time for our community as we welcome prospective students and their families to Assumption High School. We’ve been thrilled to host potential new Rockets through a variety of engaging events including Shadow Visits, Rocket Athletics Meet & Greet, Uniquely You!, Walk & Talk Tours, Excellence Empowers Night, Learning Differences Night, and Rocket Nights. Each of these experiences is designed to show future students that there’s a place for them in our vibrant, inclusive community.
Next weekend, we eagerly anticipate our Open House, a signature event where we showcase the people and programs that make an Assumption education second to none. From academics and athletics to leadership and service, every corner of our campus reflects the Assumption Advantage and our commitment to helping each student grow in mind, body, and spirit.
As parents in our community, you are often asked about your daughter’s experience at Assumption. We know that your perspective is one of our most powerful tools in welcoming new families. Below are our updated Numbers to Know, which highlight the strength and diversity of our school and help you answer common questions from prospective families.

Halloween Night
Thank you to all of our Rocket parents for the many bags of candy donated for AHS Halloween Night held on Tuesday!
Thanks to your generosity, we had plenty of treats for all of our trick-or-treaters to enjoy a truly memorable evening. Your support helps us extend warm hospitality to our alumnae, future Rockets, and the entire Rocket family. We are especially grateful for our amazing students from the Advancement Council and the Recruitment Team, who decorated the school, dressed in costume, and helped create a spooktacular experience for everyone who joined us!

12:30 DISMISSAL DAY: On Friday, November 7, we will be setting up for our Open House on Saturday, November 8. We will dismiss at 12:30 p.m. on Friday to prepare for our visitors. After-school supervision will not be provided, so please make arrangements for your daughter to be picked up by 1:00 p.m.
OPEN HOUSE HOLIDAY: Monday, November 10, is our Open House holiday, and school will be closed.

ASSUMPTION PARENT PRAYER: Our parent prayer group will meet on Wednesday, November 5 from 8:15-8:45 a.m. in the chapel. Please park in any open space and enter the school through the main entrance. We will pray for the Cork freshmen and sophomores. Please join us for any or all of these opportunities!
PRAYER INTENTIONS: All Assumption parents and alumnae are invited to share prayer intentions. Periodically, we will include the line of “prayer intentions posted online by AHS parents and alumnae” as part of our morning prayer over the P.A. Likewise, feel free to include the intentions you find there in your own personal prayer. To participate, please follow this link.

This week our students had the opportunity to engage in future planning during RTI with visits from recent AHS alumnae and the archdiocese. As part of our career accelerator, former Assumption students Ava Belle Ferree ’20 and Haley Bain ’15 returned to share their work in the digital marketing space as brand consultants for LikeToKnowIt, an online media platform for social media influencers and campaigns. Our students had the opportunity to ask questions, hear about education-to-career pathways, and engage in meaningful discussion about the current state of marketing and media. This exciting opportunity to meet with alumnae is one we hope our students benefit from throughout the school year in our career accelerator.
Additionally, our students had the opportunity to learn about an upcoming service and real-world teaching experience through the HUGS reading instruction program through a partnership with St. Raphael. Students who take part in this initiative will earn school observation hours, build relationships with students from St Raphael, and familiarize themselves with reading instruction and reading recovery, data collection, and action steps for dealing with emerging readers. In order to support the work with St. Raphael students, we had Martine Siegel visit from the Archdiocese of Louisville to host an in-house safe environment training to those interested students. This will allow our students to participate with youth across the archdiocese in volunteering, coaching, and teaching opportunities. For questions about the opportunities offered during RTI, please reach out to our Director of Leadership and Engagement, Kristin Walsh Kristin.walsh@ahsrockets.org

ROSE THEATRE FALL PRODUCTION: Next month, Rose Theatre Company is proud to present its production of Anastasia. Based on the 1997 animated film, this beloved musical shares the story of Anya, a determined young woman who travels from St. Petersburg to Paris. Against the backdrop of the Russian Revolution, Anya and her unlikely companions embark on a journey to unravel the mystery of her past and find “home, love, and family.” Their journey invites us all to consider how we find where we truly belong and share our true selves with others. Performances run Thursday, November 6 through Sunday, November 16, and tickets can be purchased at www.cur8.com by searching “Assumption High School.” If you or anyone in your party needs assistance with handicap accessibility, please reach out to us at rose.theatre@ahsrockets.org.
To celebrate Rose Theatre Company’s 25th anniversary season, we also invite you to the following Anastasia-related events:
- Schools can find information about our Tuesday, November 11 grade school performance for sixth- to eighth- graders on Assumption website’s Theatre Arts page.
- Any Assumption theatre alumni can sign up here for our “Journey to the Past”-themed reunion on Saturday, November 15. This free gathering is a chance to reconnect, reminisce, and celebrate before our evening performance of Anastasia. Alumni are welcome to attend the reunion, the show, or both! Tickets to the evening performance are not included with an RSVP but are available through www.cur8.com.
NEWS FROM THE ACHIEVEMENT CENTER: Did you know there are only 27 more school days until exams? Now is a great time for parents to review grades with their students, celebrate their successes, and look for academic opportunities where a student might receive a little extra support. Encourage your student to reach out to their teachers during RTI or to come to the AC for academic help during their study. Don’t forget the AC is open early on Tuesday and Thursday mornings before school from 7:40 to 8:40. Don’t hesitate to contact us at AC@ahsrockets.org if you see an academic need.
RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE: Assumption is hosting an American Red Cross blood drive on Wednesday, November 12 in the school gym. Student donors must be at least 16 years old. Students who are 16 must have parental permission; students 17 and older may give without parental permission. We encourage you to talk with your daughter if she plans to donate and ensure that she understands the importance of eating well and drinking lots of water several days prior to donation day. Taking an iron supplement for a week prior is also recommended. The Red Cross provides more information for students at this link: Red Cross Student Guide to Blood Donation.pdf.
- Parents are welcome to be donors at our drive as well; at this point, we do have some open appointment times. Please contact diane.darst@ahsrockets.org for scheduling if you are interested.
