The Community of Assumption wishes all of our families a blessed Easter. May we share together in this prayer for Easter:
Good and gracious God,
We praise you and thank you for the gift of new life in the Risen Jesus.
May we be like the women at the empty tomb and the disciples on the road to Emmaus
who welcome Christ into our homes and hearts even when we are confused or afraid.
Help us to be open to the Paschal Mystery at work in our own lives
so that we may truly be people of the Resurrection.
Amen.

Holy Week Prayer Service
As the Lenten season draws to a close, and before we depart for Easter weekend, our community gathered for our Holy Week Prayer Service. Here, we reflected and prayed about the stations of the cross and how this Lenten season has impacted our faith. Most of all, we recognized Jesus’s sacrifice, how he gave his life for us.
We processed in and out of the service in complete silence, so our community could recognize the solemnity and sacredness of these moments. May we take what we heard with us and understand that death was not the last chapter of Jesus’s life, and that there is much to be celebrated in the coming days. Thank you to everyone who made this service possible!

ROSE THEATRE COMPANY’S SPRING PLAY – THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG: Welcome to opening night of the Cornley Drama Society’s newest production, The Murder at Haversham Manor. What could go wrong? Well, everything. As things quickly go from bad to disastrous, this 1920s whodunit features everything you never wanted in a show—an unconscious leading lady, a corpse that can’t play dead, and actors who trip over everything (including their lines). Come see these accident-prone thespians battle against all odds to make it to final curtain, with hilarious consequences! Performances will be April 24 and 27 at 7 p.m. and April 26 and 27 at 2 p.m. Tickets are available at CUR8.com. You can use this link or go to CUR8 and search for “Assumption.” If you or anyone in your party needs assistance with handicap accessibility, please contact us at rose.theatre@ahsrockets.org.
SENIOR CELEBRATION DAY: On Friday, April 25, the class of 2025 will participate in Senior Celebration Day. Seniors will report to school by 8:15 a.m. as usual but may wear shorts and Senior Celebration Day team color t-shirts. The senior class will spend the day participating in a mind, body, and spirit field day, which will culminate with a class picture and class cookout in the courtyard. Seniors will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m.
PINK AND WHITE GAME: The eighteenth annual Pink and White Game will be held at Trinity High School on Friday, April 25, at 7:00 p.m. Opening ceremonies will begin at 6:30 p.m. The gates will open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets will NOT be sold at the door. Students may purchase tickets during lunches in the cafeteria beginning Tuesday, April 22; tickets are $10.00. Assumption, Sacred Heart, St. X, and Trinity each receive a ticket allotment to sell to their communities. We are encouraging students to arrange with their family and friends at St. X, Trinity, and Sacred Heart to buy their tickets at their own schools. To ensure that all students have the opportunity to buy a ticket from Assumption’s allotted tickets, on Tuesday, April 22, each student may buy only one ticket for herself. For the remainder of the week, students may buy a maximum of two tickets per day. Tickets will be sold to students only. There will be no outside sales. Please note: All schools have agreed that there will be no tailgating at this event, and we highly encourage carpooling to the game!

PARENT PRAYER – PINK & WHITE EDITION: Each year before the Pink & White Game, the parents of Catholic high school students come together for a joint prayer service. All parents are invited to this year’s Pink & White Parent Prayer on Thursday, April 24, at 8:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Academy. For those who usually come to our own AHS Parent Prayer on Tuesdays, please be aware that we will NOT meet on April 22 since the special service is on April 24.
PRAYER INTENTIONS: All Assumption parents and alumnae are invited to share prayer intentions. Periodically, we will include the line of “prayer intentions posted online by AHS parents and alumnae” as part of our morning prayer over the P.A. Likewise, feel free to include the intentions you find there in your own personal prayer. To participate, please follow this link.

Our Humane Action Team had an exciting week in connection with the Kentucky Humane Society. Several members of the club took a field trip to the Steedley Drive facility during RTI to get a “behind the scenes” tour. They were able to hold days-old kittens and see the way the volunteers care for the animals who will be waiting for forever homes. The following day, our Humane Action Team students hosted a puppy visit during RTI where students could boost their mental health by experiencing the many benefits including increased companionship, reduced stress and anxiety, and increased physical activity.
We look forward to many engagement events at Assumption next week including PINK WEEK, leading up to a celebration of our Spring Sports and in anticipation of the 18th Annual Pink and White game. Students are invited to wear pink accessories with their school uniform on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week (headbands, hair clip-ins, socks, etc.). On Thursday, students may wear spirit wear in their class colors (freshmen-green, sophomores-blue, juniors-yellow, seniors-pink). On Friday, freshmen, sophomores, and juniors may wear the Team Pink t-shirt, or another pink shirt with their uniform skirt/pants. Seniors will have their Senior Celebration event and have different family team uniforms for this event. Seniors will be dismissed by 12:30 on Friday, April 25.

Again last year, Assumption was chosen as the Best Private High School in Louisville by the Courier Journal as part of its Community Choice Awards which recognizes the top organizations and businesses in 25 different categories. During the week of May 5-9, we are planning to show our appreciation to the faculty and staff. We are asking parents to contribute to this event, if so inclined, by sending in gift cards or monetary donations. You can send these in with your daughters or drop them off to the main office to the attention of Tricia Ferree in the Advancement Department. You can also send monetary donations to the AHS Venmo account @Assumption High School with “Faculty/Staff Appreciation” in the description line. If possible, please send these in by May 5. Any donation is appreciated.
