March 7, 2025

This time in March each year is always one that we find exciting and energizing while working with our students. We collaborated with our school counselors this week to continue educating students about thoughtful decision making as they look ahead to next school year. Next Monday, we have our final presentations regarding the registration process for the 2025-2026 school year during Community Time. This will include time in class meetings and homeroom to share the logistics of the registration process, but more importantly, to provide opportunities for students to learn about the wide variety of course options from which they can choose. Helping students chart their pathways as they work to make their academic dreams a reality is our favorite part of our jobs. Your daughter’s class counselor is a knowledgeable resource and invaluable part of this process as well.
Linked here are the instructions your daughter received in class meeting on Monday to complete the registration process. We hope you will take time to review the COURSE CATALOG and this process and sit with her as she chooses her courses for next year. Along with the opportunity to talk to her counselor or dean of studies, your daughter’s current teachers will conference with her in classes on March 10 and 11. We are excited about looking to the future with your daughter!

McAuley Honors Program Tea
Our McAuley Scholars attended “TEA” (Talking about Excellence in Academics) parties during RTI on Thursday and Friday of this week –a clever way to incorporate Irish culture experienced by Catherine McAuley with thought-provoking conversation. Several of our faculty and staff were scattered amongst small groups of Scholars, where they reflected on what academic excellence truly means, and how it can look different for each person. It was a great opportunity for students to sip, discuss, and challenge their thinking!
A McAuley Scholar is a student who enrolls in the highest level of high school curriculum in all core classes at Assumption. She commits to taking college credit classes through the Advance Placement program, and she is a serious student who engages in extracurricular activities which reflect her values. She is an intellectual leader who supports others in their pursuits through educational and cultural events, and she commits to developing her potential and encouraging the intellectual excellence of her classmates. By honoring these commitments, McAuley Scholars enrich the educational environment of the entire Assumption community.

LEAD & LEARN DAY – Friday, March 21: While our faculty and staff will be participating in a professional development day, our students will utilize this day from home as a LEAD & Learn Day. As they were in December, students will be asked to identify how they can most productively utilize the day to achieve academic and co-curricular outcomes for the semester and may choose to engage in a variety of activities to accomplish these goals. These could include catching up on homework or working ahead on a project, including completing work for Day 3 classes, writing college essays or completing college applications, making a college visit, completing service hours, or engaging in standardized test prep. This could also include some time for rest, mindfulness, or exercise. As a final step in solidifying their purposeful use of the day, students will be required to submit their plans for the day by 12:00 p.m. via email through an Attendance Forms Survey. This survey will serve as their virtual attendance for the day.

ASSUMPTION PARENT PRAYER: Our parent prayer group will meet on Tuesday, March 11 from 8:15-8:45 a.m. in the AHS chapel. Please park in any open space and enter the school through the main entrance. We will be praying for our Limerick family juniors and seniors. Please join us!
PRAYER INTENTIONS: All Assumption parents and alumnae are invited to share prayer intentions. Periodically, we will include the line of “prayer intentions posted online by AHS parents and alumnae” as part of our morning prayer over the P.A. Likewise, feel free to include the intentions you find there in your own personal prayer. To participate, please follow this link.

We are celebrating the success of our 40+ students who attended our FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) competition this week. Participating in 16 different events during this day-long competition, 24 of our students placed in the top three in their event and earned a place in state competition. Additionally, our Speech and Debate team has been busy in competition the last few weeks, including earning fourth place in the state in Lincoln Douglass Debate with freshmen Ary Barlow and Chiagoziem Ibeawuchi both winning speaker awards. Ary was a quarterfinalist in Novice Lincoln Douglas and Chiagoziem was a finalist in Novice Lincoln Douglas debate. The Speech Team heads to state competition this weekend, and we look forward to their results! We are so proud of the continued excellence our students display in their commitments.
Our seniors who participated in the Fly Girls Dance tradition invite their families and friends to a re-scheduled Fly Girls Showcase of their dance on Sunday, March 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the AHS gym. This showcase was canceled because of snow, but we want to give parents an opportunity to see this fantastic display of teamwork and talent live! Please plan to join us.

FINANCIAL AID AND SCHOLARSHIP LETTER: Financial Aid and scholarship letters were emailed to families on March 3 via the email address in FACTS or on file with the admissions office. If you applied for financial aid or a scholarship, you hopefully have received your notification letter by now. If your daughter received a scholarship, the scholarship award was also included in the financial aid letter. Scholarships are awarded on an annual basis, and if your daughter did not receive a scholarship for the coming year, she has an opportunity to apply again for the 2025-2026 school year. With over 1,000 applications for scholarships, it is always a difficult decision when it comes to making awards. If you do have any questions regarding financial aid awards or would like to file an appeal for an additional award, please contact our Executive Director of Finance, Megan Whitler, at Megan.Whitler@ahsrockets.org or 271-2520.
MID-SEMESTER PARENT/TEACHER/STUDENT CONFERENCE COMMUNICATION: This semester, teachers will be sending an email to the parents of any student whose grade in their class is a D or F as of yesterday Thursday, March 6. We ask all parents who receive an email to respond in a timely fashion. Parents may request a conference virtually through Teams during the conference window of Tuesday, March 11 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. A link will be provided in the teacher’s email. Of course, any parent may request a conference call via phone or team or in-person meeting with a teacher at any time during the school year to discuss a student’s progress in a course. We appreciate your shared commitment to our partnership to best help our students achieve academic success.
ABSENCES BEFORE/AFTER SPRING BREAK: Please note that absences directly before or after Spring Break will count toward semester absence totals. If your daughter is sick before or after Spring Break, please submit a medical note to the Attendance Office so that this can be noted on your daughter’s attendance record. Full details about our attendance policies and procedures can be found in the STUDENT-PARENT HANDBOOK.

To help with this need, the tentative key calendar dates for 2025-2026 are now posted on our website through this link: IMPORTANT DATES FOR THE 2025-2026 SCHOOL CALENDAR
IMPORTANT UPCOMING STUDENT REGISTRATION INFORMATION: In March, we will be starting the registration process for the 2025-2026 school year. Below is important information:

Once that process is complete, you will receive a verification email from BBTM with instructions on how to log in to your 2025-2026 account or call them directly to make any changes (payment plan, banking information, etc.) Your registration fee will be included with your July payment. If your daughter will not be returning for the 2025-2026 school year, please contact our registrar KATHY FLEISCHER. If you have any questions about your account, please contact TAMMY FINCH.

If you have forgotten your parent username or password for PowerSchool, when you go to the login screen for PowerSchool, just click on the link “Having trouble signing in?” and follow the directions to obtain a forgotten username or forgotten password. Please contact kathy.fleischer@ahsrockets.org or brent.miller@ahsrockets.org if you have trouble logging in!

Her timely sharing of this information is vital to the Senior Honors Celebration as we work to make sure we have all the correct information to celebrate your daughter and the Class of 2025. These letters can be hard copies, faxes, or scanned copies and can be emailed directly to COLLEGE.LETTERS@ahsrockets.org. We ask that students submit all of this information by Monday, March 24, 2025.
