President and the Principal, Mary Lang and Martha Tedesco
At this year’s Rocket Spectacular on February 1, Assumption joyfully kicked off its 70th anniversary jubilee. It was an opportunity to recognize and celebrate our unwavering commitment to our mission that has guided us for seven incredible decades.
As we reflect on the remarkable journey of Assumption High School, we are reminded that milestones like our 70th anniversary are not just markers of time—they are celebrations of purpose, progress, and the promise of what’s to come.
Over the past 70 years, we’ve been recognized for excellence, expanded in numerous ways including our student body and program offerings, developed a vibrant campus, and created countless opportunities for students to grow in mind, body, and spirit. Together, we’ve empowered young women to discover their unique untapped potential, uncover new talents, and explore areas of interest they never imagined.
Through it all, we have remained steadfast in our mission: forming young women of faith, compassion, integrity, and excellence. In short, we’ve spent seven decades developing strong, confident servant leaders prepared to make a lasting impact on the world around them.
Throughout this special year, we will celebrate our storied past, our exciting present, and our bright future. We will also reaffirm our commitment to creating opportunities, unlocking potential, and nurturing wholeness in the young women of Louisville for the next 70 years and beyond.
Let’s celebrate this extraordinary milestone together and look forward to the incredible possibilities that lie ahead for Assumption High School!

FATHER-DAUGHTER DANCE
The 2025 Father-Daughter Dance was a great time! We were thrilled to welcome our students and their father or father figures back this year to silent disco with us at “Dads at the Disco.” We want to extend a very special congratulations to our Father/Daughter Dance Court. Our freshman princess was Khloe Cates, accompanied by her father, Ken Cates; our sophomore princess was Molli Currens, accompanied by her dad, Ryan Currens; our junior princess was Lexi Olash, accompanied by her dad, John Olash, and finally our senior princesses were Chloe & Lily Tigue, who were accompanied by their dad, Michael Tigue. Congratulations to our court, and thanks to all who came out to share this special night with their dads and father figures. We had a great time, and we know that your dads had a great time sharing the evening with you!

UPCOMING WINTER BREAK: School will be closed for students (faculty/staff will participate in professional development) for Winter Break from Friday, February 14 through Monday, February 17. Classes will resume on Tuesday, February 18.

ASSUMPTION PARENT PRAYER: Our parent prayer group will not meet next week because of winter break. We will continue on Tuesday, March 4. Please join us then.
PRAYER INTENTIONS: All Assumption parents and alumnae are invited to share prayer intentions. Periodically, we will include the line of “prayer intentions posted online by AHS parents and alumnae” as part of our morning prayer over the P.A. Likewise, feel free to include the intentions you find there in your own personal prayer. To participate, please follow this link.

SPIRIT WEEK: Next week, February 18-21, is Spirit Week. Our Varsity Club and Leadership and Engagement office have planned several different activities to show support for our students and all that they do to make us proud. All dress-up days and activities are voluntary, but we highly encourage students to show their school and class spirit by getting creative and participating in some capacity.
- Spirit Week Dress-Up Days: Students are invited to dress up according to a different theme each day next week. Students have been emailed the dress-up day descriptions and rules, so they may begin planning their costumes. Costumes are all or nothing (no “partial uniform/partial costume” dress); students may not wear costume masks or face paint; and current school policies regarding shoes and hair color still apply. On Tuesday, our theme is “UK vs. UofL” and students can wear gear to support their preferred collegiate team; on Wednesday, students dress up according to their favorite holiday, Thursday is a “Pink Out” with seniors wearing black for their Fly Girls performance; and Friday is mismatch outfit & crazy hair day. We can’t wait to see how students show their spirit during this fun week!
