As a school committed to continuous improvement, we strive to provide your daughter with the very best educational experience possible. To support this vital work, this past spring, we contracted with Independent School Management (ISM), the largest independent school consulting firm in North America with over 25 years of experience surveying school families, to conduct a comprehensive school culture survey. The feedback we received from parents and students was invaluable, and the results of our school culture survey reflect the strong and positive engagement of our entire school community.
To assist in synthesizing the massive amount of data collected and presenting the survey results in a consolidated yet meaningful way, ISM utilizes what they call “leading indicators”.
For parents, three leading indicators are deemed most significant in understanding how parents feel about our school.
- How likely are you to recommend our school to another family?
- Rate the overall value of the education your child is receiving at our school, based on the tuition and fees paid.
- Is the school satisfactorily delivering on its mission?
We are pleased to report that Assumption scored at the very top level – “excellent/world class” in each of these leading indicators.
Likewise, for students there is one leading indicator that captures how they view their school:
- How likely are you to recommend AHS to a friend or family member?
- Again, Assumption scored at the very top level – “excellent/world class”.
These results affirm the dedication of our staff, the enthusiasm of our students, and the support of our families in building a thriving school community.
While we are proud of these positive outcomes, the results yielded opportunities for improvement in several key areas:
- Providing additional resources for students in managing stress and feelings of being overwhelmed;
- Providing more financial aid and scholarships;
- Expanding career, leadership, and life skills for a more comprehensive learning experience.
We invite you to join us in celebrating these achievements and continuing our journey of growth. If you have additional feedback or ideas, please feel free to reach out to me personally at mary.lang@ahsrockets.org.
As we continue our daily celebration of Catholic Schools Week, today we are so grateful for our parents/guardians and thank you for your partnership and for entrusting us with your child’s education. Together, we will continue to provide a nurturing, welcoming, and inspiring environment for our entire school community.
And as we conclude Catholic Schools Week, please enjoy this video of current Assumption Board Member and graduate of the Class of 1994, Diane Gahafer, as she reflects on the difference her Catholic education, especially her Assumption education, made in her life. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7pkyirliUc

ROCKET SPECTACULAR
We are looking forward to celebrating our 44th annual Rocket Spectacular Benefit Dinner & Auction – and kicking off Assumption’s 70th Anniversary – Our Platinum Jubilee taking place tomorrow evening from 6:00 to 11:00 p.m. here at Assumption. All proceeds from the event benefit the financial needs of our students. Currently, nearly one-third of our students receive some form of financial assistance to attend Assumption.
This is our largest fundraiser of the year, and we are so grateful to the many guests attending, all of our amazing volunteers who have worked for months on planning, and the many community supporters who have donated items. All of these individuals make this event so successful and special. You can still support our students and be a part of the excitement! Be sure to visit our Rocket Spectacular page to bid on auction items, purchase raffle tickets, or to make a donation. https://one.bidpal.net/rs25/browse/all
Ahead of the event, we would like to recognize and give a special THANK YOU to all of our sponsors. Their commitment and dedication to Assumption ensures the success of this year’s Rocket Spectacular.

FATHER-DAUGHTER DANCE: The Father-Daughter Dance will be held on Saturday, February 8, from 7:30-10:30 p.m. in the gym. This dance is open to ALL students— freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors. We encourage all to attend and dance the night away with their fathers or father figures! Tickets may be purchased in advance via GoFan or at the door the night of the dance. Tickets are $25 per couple and $10 for each additional daughter. The dance theme is “Dads at the Disco” and will be a silent disco! Guests are invited to dress for the theme but, of course, themed attire is not required. Music will be provided by Assumption’s very own DJ, Jared Ramirez. Hope to see you there! https://gofan.co/event/3086429?schoolId=KY6124

ASSUMPTION PARENT PRAYER: Our parent prayer group will meet on Tuesday, February 4 from 8:15-8:45 a.m. in the AHS chapel. Please park in any open space and enter the school through the main entrance. We will be praying for our Tullamore family freshmen and sophomores. Please join us!
PRAYER INTENTIONS: All Assumption parents and alumnae are invited to share prayer intentions. Periodically, we will include the line of “prayer intentions posted online by AHS parents and alumnae” as part of our morning prayer over the P.A. Likewise, feel free to include the intentions you find there in your own personal prayer. To participate, please follow this link.

In our ongoing effort to provide enrichment opportunities for students during RTI time, Mrs. Tedesco offered a LEO (Leadership Educational Opportunity) addressing time and task management. As one of the leaders of our school, Mrs. Tedesco offered her real-world expertise to our students who attended—covering her methods of prioritization, planning, implementation of tools, etc. — to address the varied nature of her work. We are excited that our students have the opportunity to learn from the leaders in our building and can consider how to implement these lessons in their lives as well. One freshman student who attended the LEO on Wednesday said, “I will use what I learned to prioritize important things over things that aren’t as important and use my time efficiently.” Another reported, “I will use what I learned daily as I plan my activities. I can also use what I learned to be a more organized leader.” If your daughter wants to know more about the LEOs offered or other involvement opportunities, please feel free to reach out to Kristin Walsh in the Leadership & Engagement Office. FINANCIAL AID FORM: The financial aid link for the 2025-2026 school year has been added to the school’s website. The due date is January 31, 2025, and the form must be submitted online to FACTS Grant and Aid Assessment. FINANCIAL AID APPLICATION LINK. As a reminder, you are required to file every year to be considered for assistance.
PreACT and ACT TEST REPORTS: Students should have received paper copies of their PreACT and ACT test reports in their English classes. Freshmen and sophomores also had their PreACT test booklets returned and are being led through error analysis activities on these tests with their math, English, social studies, and science teachers.
ROCKET PARENT NETWORK (RPN) UPDATE: SAVE THE DATE! The Rocket Parent Network invites you to “save the date” for their next speaker program on February 24 at 6:30 p.m. in the AHS theater. The presentation will focus on helping your daughters through feelings of anxiety and being overwhelmed. They will host the parents of three daughters and a local therapist. This program will also be offered online with a link coming to the Rocket Report in the next few weeks.
PARENT SUPERVISION VOLUNTEERS: We are very grateful to the parents who volunteered to assist with supervision during our new Rockets Taking Initiative (RTI) period, which occurs from 10:50 a.m. – 12:20 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. During this time when students are not meeting with a teacher or in an enrichment session, they each have an RTI family room homebase for quiet independent work. These rooms are supervised by a team of teachers/staff members. Parent volunteers are needed to serve as substitutes for our RTI Family room supervisors when teachers are out of the building to go on retreat, to attend professional development, or for other personal/professional reasons. As the new semester begins, we want to remind our parents that whether you can volunteer once this school year or multiple times, we would love to have you join us in supporting this important work. Please note: All volunteers working with students are required to attend the Safe Environment Training provided by the Archdiocese of Louisville and to complete a background check with the archdiocese. If you have never attended this workshop and are interested in volunteering, see the schedule of trainings here: Archdiocese of Louisville Safe Environment Training. You can also click HERE for a link to the background check form to complete. If interested in volunteering, please complete this PARENT SUPERVISION VOLUNTEER QUESTIONNAIRE. If you have questions, please email Tatum Park. Completed background check forms may also be emailed to Mrs. Park as well. Thank you in advance for helping us support your daughters and our teachers!

All attendance policies apply during Mission Week–if your daughter is ill and unable to participate on a given day, please call the attendance office as usual. If at all possible, please do not schedule medical appointments for your daughter on days when she will be participating in activities off campus. After-school supervision will also be provided each day in the cafeteria until 4:30 p.m. as usual. There is no school on Friday, February 28.
