President and the Principal, Mary Lang and Martha Tedesco
It’s certainly been an interesting start to the New Year! We want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your understanding and flexibility as we navigated this extended bout of inclement weather.
We know that unexpected schedule changes can be challenging, and we truly appreciate your patience and partnership as we worked to continue to support and educate your daughters – no matter the circumstances.
With more snow today and continued low temperatures, we want to be prepared should school be closed again on Monday. If school is closed on Monday, then we will move to VIRTUAL LEARNING DAYS. Directions and expectations for virtual learning days will be emailed to your daughters this afternoon. Please take a minute to review these directions and expectations prior to Monday so that your daughter can be best prepared.
We look forward to, hopefully, welcoming everyone back to campus next week!
Until then, stay warm and stay safe,
Mary Lang and Martha Tedesco

Welcome back to Assumption for the new semester!
As we kick off 2025, one event is on everyone’s mind: our 44th Annual Rocket Spectacular Benefit Dinner and Auction – Platinum Jubilee. The event will be held here at Assumption on Saturday, February 1 and always sells out in advance!
All event proceeds benefit our students’ financial needs; currently one third of our students receive financial assistance. This is our largest fundraiser of the year, and there are many ways for YOU to support this effort!
We are still collecting donations for our live and silent auctions. Please contact Tricia Ferree at 271-2519 if you are interested in donating or supporting or have any questions. Most importantly, we would like to invite you to join us for one of the most fun evenings in Louisville (according to past attendees). Each year, more than 450 individuals join us for a night of high energy and great company where you walk away feeling inspired! You can reserve individual tickets or reserve a table. Reservations are subject to availability. Reserve your tickets now before they are gone. Visit our Rocket Spectacular page to secure your tickets and bid on our exciting raffles. A limited number of tickets will be sold. @ https://one.bidpal.net/rs25/

The Power of Perseverance
In case you missed it, check out Penny and Lindsey Peetz on the Kelly Clarkson Show where they had the opportunity to spread Penny’s amazing story! Despite our winter storm this week, Penny and Lindsey were still able to make it to Palm Beach where Penny was recognized at the American Humane Society Hero Awards. We look forward to continuing to share Penny’s message with our students when we return to school next week.

NEW YEAR MASS: The whole student body will come together to celebrate the Eucharist at Mass at 9:35 a.m. on Tuesday, January 14 at St. Raphael. It will be a wonderful opportunity for the Community of Assumption to come together to bless the new year and entrust its care to God’s loving providence.

PARENT PRAYER: Parent Prayer has resumed its weekly schedule. Please join us on Tuesday, January 14 at 8:30 a.m. in the AHS chapel. We will be praying for the Kingstown Family. All are welcome!
PRAYER INTENTIONS: All Assumption parents and alumnae are invited to share prayer intentions. Periodically, we will include the line of “prayer intentions posted online by AHS parents and alumnae” as part of our morning prayer over the P.A. Likewise, feel free to include the intentions you find there in your own personal prayer. To participate, please follow this link.

As we begin a new calendar year, we will remind students to recommit to their pursuits outside the classroom as they do in the classroom. We still have plenty of open-enrollment clubs and organizations that meet as often as once per week or require less in-person time but build great character. We encourage all students to seek out opportunities that expand their learning in different directions and take advantage of the mentoring and enthusiasm from our talented faculty and staff moderators. To explore these opportunities with your daughter, please visit the digital club catalog and reach out to Kristin Walsh, Kristin.walsh@ahsrockets.org or the listed moderator with any questions about joining clubs/organizations at Assumption. Additionally this month, students who are eligible for National Honor Society (sophomores and juniors with a 3.7 GPA and a commitment to school involvement and community service) will have the chance to hear more about this national organization and the commitment it requires to obtain and hold membership in this organization. During RTI time, Mrs. Habich and Mrs. Schrage will hold information sessions for those interested in pursuing this designation.

INFORMATION ON POWERSCHOOL CYBER-SECURITY INCIDENT: You may have seen in the news recently that PowerSchool suffered a cyber security incident on December 28 involving unauthorized access to certain information. As a customer of PowerSchool and its Student Information System, (SIS), AHS was notified of the incident and the fact that certain PowerSchool customers were affected. The good news – PowerSchool has confirmed that our organization’s data was not impacted. In addition, our IT staff also verified that there was no breach of our SIS data via PowerSchool. While the investigation is ongoing, PowerSchool has assured AHS that if anything changes they will notify us immediately. In that event, Assumption will in turn notify our families of any changes to the above.
FIRST SEMESTER REPORT CARDS: First semester report cards were emailed to parents/guardians, Tuesday, January 7. If you believe you have not received your daughter’s report card, please check your junk mail folder as emails from Assumption are sometimes diverted to these folders. If it is not in that folder, please contact our registrar, KATHY FLEISCHER, for assistance.
DROP/ADD DEADLINE: Drop/Add for second semester elective courses ends on Wednesday, January 15. Any elective schedule change request must be accompanied by a signed schedule change request form or a note from a parent.
SPRING DUAL CREDIT CLASSES: If your daughter is enrolled in a Spring 2025 Dual Credit class, she may have already filled out an online application in December or will be completing this over the next weeks and will need to have a parent signature on at least one emailed form. If your daughter is taking DC PreCalculus, DC Calculus, DC Public Speaking, DC English IV, DC Intro to Business, DC Personal Finance, DC World Religions, DC Foundations of Instruction, or DC Human Development and Learning, please talk to your daughter about any parent forms that you need to complete from your email and if she still has remaining KHEAA scholarships to pay for these courses. She can log into her KHEAA account HERE. If you have any questions, please contact Judy.Fieldhouse@ahsrockets.org
Save the date! COLLEGE WORKSHOP AND REGISTRATION INFORMATION FOR SOPHOMORES, JUNIORS, AND PARENTS: Attention, all sophomore and junior parents and students – please mark your calendars for a college workshop on Thursday, January 30 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Parents and students will have the opportunity to choose from breakout sessions on topics such as Mastering the College Application Essay, Helpful Strategies for Standardized Testing, the Governor’s Scholars Program, Purposeful Planning and Course Selection, and many more. This form, the syllabus with all the due dates and requirements, and a long list of approved agencies can be found on Student SharePoint.

ACTS PANTS REMINDER: This is a reminder that all sophomores will need uniform pants in order to participate in ACTS next semester. The first ACTS service day is Wednesday, January 22. They are black pants with an embroidered “A” and can be purchased at Shaheen’s. If your student does not have hers yet, please be sure to take care of this over Christmas break.
