Executive Director of Advancement, Michelle Farmer
We’re bubbling over with excitement and ready to celebrate our 43rd annual Rocket Spectacular Benefit Dinner & Auction – Bow Ties & Bubbly taking place tomorrow evening from 6:00 to 11:00 p.m. here at Assumption. All proceeds from the event benefit the financial needs of our students. Currently, nearly one-third of our students receive some form of financial assistance to attend Assumption.
This is our largest fundraiser of the year, and even though the event has a sellout crowd this year with more than 450 guests attending, not including all of our amazing volunteers, you can still support our students and be a part of the excitement! Be sure to visit our Rocket Spectacular page to bid on auction items, purchase raffle tickets, and more. https://one.bidpal.net/rs24/welcome
Ahead of the event, we would like to recognize and give a special THANK YOU to all of our sponsors. Their commitment and dedication to Assumption ensures the success of this year’s Rocket Spectacular.
Grateful for our Parents!
During this special Catholic Schools Week and always, we thank you for allowing us to partner with you in nurturing your daughters through such formative years of her life. At Assumption, we feel blessed to have the opportunity to educate your daughter both academically and spiritually. We know that providing your daughter with a superior education means sacrifices must be made. This morning, members of our Family Council braved the cold to show our parents a little love and gratitude as they drove through the carpool line. Additionally, we prayed together as a community in your honor:
Mother and Father God, thank you for the gift of our parents. Thank you for their unconditional love, the sacrifices they make for us, the shoulders we cry on when we are in pain, and the encouragement they give us as we pursue our dreams for the future. Please forgive us for the times we have taken them for granted, and care for them in a special way as they continue to make your love present to us through them. We ask this in the name of Jesus, your son. Amen.
RTI TIME DURING LEAD & LEARN NEXT WEEK: Next week, February 5 and 6 during LEAD & Learn Time, we are offering Rockets Taking Initiative (RTI) time. During this time, students will have the opportunity to work with teachers on course skills, to get organized, or participate in extension opportunities. Students may be specifically referred by a teacher during this time. If your daughter has been referred for assistance, she has received an email with information, and you received an email today as well.
FATHER-DAUGHTER DANCE: The Father-Daughter Dance will be held on Saturday, February 10 from 8:00-11:00 p.m. in the gym. This dance is open to ALL students— freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors. We encourage all to attend and dance the night away with their fathers or father figures! Tickets may be purchased in advance during lunches on Monday, February 5 – February 9 for $25, or at the door the night of the dance for $30. The dance theme is “Game Day” and is inspired by a variety of sports! Guests are invited to dress for the theme in jerseys or athletic gear, but of course, themed attire is not required. Music will be provided by the band Famous on Friday. Hope to see you there!
EARLY REMINDER! 8:15 WEDNESDAY SCHEDULE ON ASH WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 14: As we mentioned at the beginning of the semester, Wednesday, February 14, will be an 8:15 schedule due to our Ash Wednesday Prayer Service. Please make sure your daughter is at school by 8:15 a.m. that day. Our sophomores will leave for ACTS after the morning service to receive ashes.
ASSUMPTION PARENT PRAYER: Our parent prayer group will meet on Tuesday, February 6from 8:30-9:00 a.m. in the AHS chapel and will continue to meet each Tuesday morning throughout the school year. Please park in any open space and enter the school through the main entrance. During the year, we pray for every student by name twice. Next week, we will be praying for the Tullamore Family freshmen and sophomores. Please join us for any or all of these opportunities.
PRAYER INTENTIONS: The Community of Assumption knows the power of prayer! All AHS parents and alumnae are invited to submit prayer intentions online. These intentions are then lifted in prayer all together during Five-Minute Prayer in the chapel on Wednesdays and weekly on the PA during morning prayer. If you would like to submit an intention, you can do so here. They will remain there for about two weeks, but feel free to post the same intention again later if needed. Also, you may wish to consider adding the intentions you find there to your own personal prayer!
This week during LEAD & Learn time, our freshmen, sophomores, and juniors will hear from our Deans of Studies about their course registration information for the next school year. While this may seem early, it allows time for our students to consider their long-term planning as well as hold advisory conversations with their deans, counselors, and teachers. Our seniors will receive information about the senior information they can choose to include in the yearbook, as well as their future role as an Assumption alumna. Please see the Special Message that you received today for additional details. Please see the Special Message that you received today for additional details.
WORK IT WEDNESDAY – FEBRUARY SCHEDULE: The Achievement Center will be hosting two Work It Wednesdays for the month of February. Mark your calendars now for February 7 and 21. Students are invited to come to the Media Center from 7:45 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. to receive extra support in their classes from peer tutors, study groups, or the AC teachers. We ask students to please RSVP in advance.
PreACT, PSAT, and ACT TEST REPORTS: Students received paper copies of their PreACT, PSAT, and ACT test reports during LEAD & Learn on Thursday, February 1. Students will also have their test booklets returned and will be led through error analysis activities by their math, English, social studies, and science teachers.
