Manager of Annual Fund & Alumnae Relations, Abby Martin
Calling on all Assumption Alumnae!! Once again, Assumption is partnering with Bethlehem, Holy Cross, Mercy, Presentation, and Sacred Heart on April 18-20 for the annual Alumnae Unite giving campaign. This campaign is focused on women’s philanthropy and giving back to their alma mater in support of Catholic education. Over the past six years, this campaign has raised more than $1.5 million for girls’ Catholic education.
All funds raised benefit the respective schools’ annual fund, which supports the operational budget and tuition assistance, and is critical as tuition alone doesn’t cover the cost of an Assumption education. This year, the actual cost of educating a student is over $17,500. The nearly $2,600 difference per student is made up through fundraising efforts, including Alumnae Unite, which helps offset the cost of tuition for our families.
The goal for this year’s campaign is for each school to reach 20% alumnae participation, which means every donation no matter the amount helps us get closer. Right now, Assumption is at 4.89%, but we know Rocket alums will rise to the occasion and get us to 20% first! We are so proud to have alumnae who continue to support Assumption’s mission of educating the whole person.
If you’re an alum and have already supported the Annual Fund this year, thank you, your donation is already included in the participation percentage! If you haven’t, please consider making a donation today to help AHS reach our goal. As parents, we invite you to follow along on social media to see how alums are doing. We also encourage you to share on social media and invite others to give back in support of your daughter or other young women who will come after her! https://www.givecampus.com/lxhwqe

JUNIOR PROM SEMIFORMAL DANCE: On Saturday, April 15, the junior class is hosting a juniors-only prom from 8:00-11:00 p.m. Every student and her guest must have a ticket that was purchased in advance. Each student must also present her student ID when entering. Tickets were sold during all lunches April 11-14. Tickets will not be sold at the door. Students have received information about dance rules and expectations via SharePoint, email, and morning announcements. In order to ensure student safety, all students and guests must arrive by 9:00 p.m. and may not leave until 10:30 p.m. All students will be monitored with the use of a passive alcohol sensor upon arrival and departure of the dance.

PARENT PRAYER: Our parent prayer group will meet on Tuesday, April 18, from 8:30–9:00 a.m. in the AHS chapel and will continue to meet each Tuesday morning throughout the school year. Please park in any open space and enter the school through the main entrance. During the year, we pray for every student by name twice. Next week we will be praying for the Limerick sophomores. Please join us for any or all of these opportunities. All are welcome!
PARENT PRAYER – PINK & WHITE EDITION: Each year before the Pink & White Game, the parents of Catholic high school students come together for a joint prayer service. Please join us for this year’s Parent Prayer on Thursday, April 27, at 8:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart. Please enter SHA through the main entrance and greeters will direct you to the service. And those who usually come to our own AHS Parent Prayer on Tuesdays, please be aware that we will NOT meet on April 25 since the special service is on April 27.

This past week, freshmen, sophomores, and juniors heard about leadership opportunities and seniors worked on a collaborative art project. Our students worked on preparation for an annual Assumption tradition—the bleacher dance. Sophomores and juniors heard information about parking on campus next school year and how to obtain a parking spot.
Next week, all grade levels will continue to practice their bleacher dance in preparation of Friday’s pep rally. Also, seniors will receive their allotted graduation tickets on Monday during homeroom. Please be sure to ask them for the tickets at home.

WORK IT WEDNESDAY SCHEDULE FOR APRIL: The Achievement Center will be hosting its final Work It Wednesday next week for April. Mark your calendar now for April 19. Students are invited to come to the Media Center from 7:45 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. to receive extra support in their classes from peer tutors, study groups, or the AC teachers. To ensure we are meeting everyone’s needs, we ask students to please RSVP in advance to Mrs. Conway or Ms. Prentice.
ACT TEST PREP FOR SOPHOMORES AND JUNIORS: We are offering our students the opportunity to partner with TorchPrep, an innovative test training program that cracks the code on improving ACT scores. TorchPrep has continually yielded outstanding ACT scores for our students. Last year, Assumption students who participated in TorchPrep saw an average score increase of 2.3 points. All courses include 30 hours of direct training, four full-length simulated tests, TorchPrep training manual, customized study plan, and guaranteed results. The training program will take place at Assumption June 5 – 8 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Early registration deadline is May 29. More information about programs, registration, and fees can be found at www.torchprep.com.
PINK AND WHITE GAME: The sixteenth annual Pink and White Game will be held at Trinty High School on Friday, April 28, at 7:00 p.m. Opening ceremonies will begin at 6:30 p.m. The gates will open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets will NOT be sold at the door. Students may purchase tickets during lunches in the cafeteria the week of April 24; tickets are $10.00. Assumption, Sacred Heart, St. X, and Trinity each receive a ticket allotment to sell to their communities. We are encouraging students to arrange with their family and friends at St. X, Trinity, and Sacred Heart to buy their tickets at their own schools. In order to ensure that all students have the opportunity to buy a ticket from Assumption’s allotted tickets, on Monday, April 24, each student may buy only one ticket for herself. For the remainder of the weeks, students may buy a maximum of two tickets per day. Tickets will be sold to students only. There will be no outside sales. Please note: All schools have agreed that there will be no tailgating at this event, and we highly encourage carpooling to the game!
ROSE THEATRE COMPANY’S SPRING PLAY: Based on the iconic 1985 Paramount movie which was inspired by the classic Hasbro board game, Clue is a hilarious farce-meets-murder mystery. The tale begins at a remote mansion where six mysterious guests assemble for an unusual dinner party where murder and blackmail are on the menu. When their host turns up dead, they all become suspects. Led by Wadsworth (the butler), Miss Scarlett, Professor Plum, Mrs. White, Mr. Green, Mrs. Peacock, and Colonel Mustard race to find the killer as the body count stacks up. Clue is the comedy whodunit that will leave both cult fans and newcomers in stitches as they try to figure out…WHO did it, WHERE, and with WHAT!? Performances will be April 22, 27, and 29 at 7 p.m., April 23 and 30 at 2 p.m. Tickets are available at www.showtix.com.
