This Advent, our Service Learning Director, Katie Culver, created a Random Acts of Kindness Project. Each day of Advent she has emailed daily reflections in the form of Bible passages, a short reflection, a question or two to think about, and a prayer to our students, faculty and staff to use in our Advent preparation. Additionally, the community was invited to share any random act of kindness that we had done or witnessed someone doing. Each random act was represented as a piece of hay which fills our Christmas manager as we await the birth of baby Jesus. Our manger was filled with so much love and kindness this Advent Season!

On behalf of the faculty and staff, we wish you all a blessed Christmas.
May your celebration of the birth of Jesus this season
Open you to the true joy and lasting peace of Christ.
May what began in a simple manger on that night so long ago
Continue in our hearts every day of the coming year.

This year, faculty and staff members participated in a special Assumption “Angel Tree” that provided Christmas to residents at Creekside on Bardstown senior assisted living. Together, we provided gifts to 34 “angels” which is the most donations they have ever received from one organization.

CHRISTMAS BREAK: This is the last Rocket Report of the semester. Assumption will be closed for Christmas Break from December 19 – January 2. Classes will resume on Tuesday, January 3. The next Rocket Report will be sent on Friday, December 6.
FIRST WEEK OF SECOND SEMESTER: Like this semester, our first week of second semester will follow our regular 8:15 a.m. schedule each day. We will begin our 9:15 Wednesday schedule on Wednesday, January 11. Additionally, we have made a change to our school calendar: Wednesday, February 22, will be an 8:15 schedule due to our Ash Wednesday Prayer Service. PARENT PRAYER: Parent Prayer will resume its weekly schedule on Tuesday, January 10, at 8:30 a.m. in the AHS chapel. All are welcome!

We are looking forward to another exciting semester of LEAD & Learn time for our students. As a reminder, our LEAD & Learn time takes place in the middle of the day typically from 11:10-11:35. This time provides an opportunity for class meetings, advising, announcements, leadership development, guidance curriculum, and so much more. Counselors send information out to students about the plans for LEAD & Learn time in their weekly charts. Each counselor prepares a weekly chart listing the daily schedule and plans for LEAD & Learn time. If your daughter ever has a question about the schedule or where to go for LEAD & Learn time, please remind her to check her counselor’s weekly schedule.
When we return from break, students will report directly to homeroom on Tuesday for a special AM LEAD & Learn Time where they will receive their new schedules for the semester and reconnect with their homerooms after the break. Additionally, the focus of LEAD & Learn times throughout this week will be on a positive reset for second semester. Students will have time in homeroom to reflect on their progress this year and set second semester goals. Additionally, they will hear from administrators about academic planning and expectations in a schoolwide meeting on Thursday.
