March 31, 2022

Executive Director of Advancement, Michelle Farmer
Once again, Assumption partnered with Bethlehem, Holy Cross, Mercy, Presentation, and Sacred Heart for 60 hours on March 23-25 for the annual Alumnae Unite giving campaign. Alumnae Unite is all about participation and is an effort to raise awareness of women’s philanthropy and giving back to their alma mater in support of Catholic education. Over the past six years, this campaign has raised more than $1.5 million for girls’ Catholic education.
All funds raised benefit the respective schools’ annual fund, which supports the operational budget and tuition assistance, a vital bridge between tuition and the cost to educate a student. This campaign is a great way to challenge our alumnae to show their pride, inspire other alumnae, and to support more young women.
As an Assumption alumna, I am proud to share that 640 alumnae donated over $49,000 in support of the Annual Fund during this campaign. We kicked off our campaign with 5.5% participation because many of our alums had already given this fiscal year, and our participation grew to 11.06%! We are proud to have alumnae who continue to support Assumption’s mission of educating the whole person.
If you are an Assumption alum and you missed giving during Alumnae Unite, you can still make a donation to AHS before June 30, 2022, to help us get to 22% participation. You can make your gift online, through Venmo (include name and class year), or via mail (Advancement Office, 2170 Tyler Lane, Louisville, KY 40205).

To keep our families informed of the impact of COVID on our school, we continue reporting our positive COVID cases each week via the Rocket Report.
- This week, (reporting from Friday 3/25/22 to Wednesday 3/30/22); AHS had 1 new positive COVID case – which was a student.
- Since the start of this semester, AHS has had 206 positive COVID cases. 182 were students and 24 were faculty/staff.
Mask Mandate: Based on our current Covid numbers and declining cases in the greater community, AHS will remain mask optional until further notice including on buses and vans.

Last weekend the Beta Club hosted their 19th annual Senior Citizen Prom! This tradition, started by students nearly 20 years ago welcomes Senior Citizens in the community the opportunity to come dance the day away. This year over 125 guests enjoyed music from the Prime Time Band for the Denim and Diamonds themed day!

SPRING BREAK: Spring break will begin Friday, April 1, since we met our Rocket Raffle ticket sale incentive, and continue through Sunday, April 10. School will resume on Monday, April 11. We wish everyone a happy and safe spring break!
EASTER MONDAY: School will be closed on Monday, April 18, for Easter Monday.

PARENT PRAYER Our parent prayer group continues to meet each Tuesday morning from 8:30-9:00 a.m. in our new chapel. This group is more than just prayer; it’s community. It’s a chance for parents to pray for their daughters and their daughters’ friends and time to get to know more Assumption parents. Please park in any open space and enter the school through the main entrance. Please join us for any or all of these opportunities!
HOLY WEEK PRAYER SERVICE: Our Holy Week Pray Service is a portrayal of the Stations of the Cross through music, images, and dramatic movement. It will take place on Good Friday, April 15, at 10:15 a.m. in the CAC/gym.

This week during LEAD & Learn Time, all students were in homeroom on Monday to participate in a follow-up discussion from Friday’s prevention assembly directed by our peer leaders and homeroom teachers. On Tuesday and Thursday, classes engaged in a variety of activities in homeroom and class meetings. Freshman, sophomores, and juniors received information about elected class and Family Council leadership positions for the 2022-2023 school year. Sophomores reflected upon their ACTS experience at their class closing prayer service. Seniors had the opportunity to engage in a class picture on Tuesday. And all classes spent the week receiving direction from our Green Dot Program club members on engaging in healthy and supportive relationships.

ROSE THEATRE COMPANY’S SPRING MUSICAL: The beloved musical adaptation of Victor Hugo’s literary masterpiece, Les Misérables, is coming to Assumption April 22, 23, 27, and 30 at 7 p.m. and April 24 and May 1 at 2 p.m. Set in 19th century France after the first French Revolution, Les Misérables weaves together the stories of downtrodden men and women who cling to their dreams in the face of injustice and social upheaval: a former convict chooses redemption, a mother ensures her daughter’s survival, and a group of students rally for the world they long to see. These timeless characters offer Hugo’s vision about grace and justice, poverty and revolution, love and hope, assuring audiences that even in a weary world, “tomorrow comes.” Tickets are available at www.showtix.com. You can use this link or go to Showtix and search for Assumption. If you or anyone in your party needs assistance with handicap accessibility, please contact Colleen Murphy at colleen.murphy@ahsrockets.org.
SCHOOL CULTURE SURVEY – Parent Input Needed: This past Monday, parents were sent a special message asking them to complete the Johns Hopkins School Culture 360 Survey. This anonymous survey is open from March 21 to April 8 with separate survey instruments for administrators, teachers, students, and parents. Your input is critical, and we want to hear from you! AHS’s goal is to reach 70% parent participation. To encourage our parents to take the survey, your daughters will have a free spirit wear day on April 28 – the day of the Pink and White Game – if we reach our 70% goal. Previously, we had selected March 31 as the incentive date for spirit wear but since Johns Hopkins changed the closing date of the survey, AHS had to move back the date for the potential dress down day. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey and help AHS reach our goal!
ASSUMPTION ROCKET MEN (ARM) NEWS: The Assumption Rocket Men will host the First Annual Assumption Cornhole Invitational on Sunday, April 24, from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at the Assumption Green. AFTERNOON CROSSING GUARD: The Louisville Police Department is actively seeking a traffic guard for AHS and St. Raphael in the afternoon at Bardstown Road and Lancashire. Please share this job posting with anyone who may be qualified or interested in being trained for this position: TRAFFIC GUARD JOB DESCRIPTION

LETTERS FROM COLLEGES: Attention, senior parents! Please have your senior daughters submit ALL letters received from colleges regarding admissions decisions, scholarship offers, and admission to special programs and honors colleges to the Guidance Office. The majority of colleges DO NOT provide this information directly to high schools, so your daughter is often our only source of information about this. Her timely sharing of this information is vital to the Senior Honors Celebration as we work to make sure we have all the correct information to celebrate your daughter and the Class of 2022. These letters can be hard copies, faxes, or scanned copies and can be emailed directly to COLLEGE.LETTERS@ahsrockets.org. We ask that students submit all of this information by Thursday, March 31.
SENIORS – MOTHER/DAUGHTER BREAKFAST FOLLOW UP: Thanks to all the senior mothers/mother figures for attending this year’s event with their daughters! It was equal parts fun and tearful and marks the first of many events over the next several weeks to celebrate the Class of 2022. If you would like to purchase photos from the event, you can do so at https://shop.studioillumination.com/.
