Speech and Debate Qualifies for Nationals and Earns Top Spots at State

Lydia Cardwell ’19 has qualified for nationals in Lincoln Douglas debate and was crowned the tournament champion at the Kentucky Catholic Forensic League national qualifying tournament. She also earned the varsity state champion title in Lincoln Douglas debate, was a semifinalist in Extemporaneous Speaking, and a third place winner in Impromptu Speaking at the KHSSL state competition.
The teams of Carly Crawford ’19 and Correna Tate ’18, and Ella Springer ’20 and Meaghan Northup ’21 qualified for the national tournament in Public Forum debate. Crawford and Tate earned third place as a team in Public Forum at the Kentucky Catholic Forensic League National Qualifying Tournament and were the varsity Public Forum semifinalists at the Kentucky High School Speech League (KHSSL) state debate tournament. Crawford was also a semifinalists in Poetry Interpretation and a state quarterfinalist in Program Oral Interpretation and Prose Interpretation at the KHSSL state tourney.
In addition, Delaney Schwab ’21 finished as a quarterfinalist in Novice Lincoln Douglas debate at the KHSSL state tournament. Congratulations Assumption Speech and Debate!
