Legendary Volleyball Coach Ron Kordes to be Inducted in KHSAA Hall of Fame

Assumption’s volleyball dominance includes 12 state titles in a 13-year span, eight-consecutive championships from 1995 to 2002, and a number of 174-consecutive wins against in-state competition. “Kordes ranks in the top-20 all-time on the NFHS list for career volleyball coaching victories (11th among active coaches), while Assumption is tied for eighth nationally with its 20 state championships,” stated a KHSAA press release. During his time as head coach AHS has earned four national championships and had two players, Katie George ’12 and Alexa Filley ’14, receive the Gatorade National Player of the Year award. The KHSAA honorees will be inducted on April 21, 2018, in Lexington and will be recognized during the semifinals of the 2018 Whitaker Bank/KHSAA Boys’ Sweet 16®.
