Innovative Schedule
A Student‑Centered, TIME-EFFICIENT Approach to Learning.
Assumption High School’s rotating block schedule, first implemented in 1996 and thoughtfully refined over time, remains a cornerstone of our student‑centered approach to education. Designed to reflect how students learn best, this innovative structure provides the time, flexibility, and balance needed for deeper learning, meaningful engagement, and personal growth.

Rotating Block Schedule
Students take eight courses spread across a four‑day rotation (Day 1–Day 4), attending four classes per day. One of a student’s eight blocks is a dedicated study hall every other day, ensuring guaranteed time within the school day for academic support and independent work.
Each course meets at different times throughout the cycle, ensuring students experience every subject at varying points in the day. This rotation prevents repetitive daily schedules and keeps learning fresh, engaging, and aligned with students’ natural energy levels.
With extended class periods (approximately 75–80 minutes), students have the opportunity to move beyond surface‑level instruction. Teachers are able to blend direct instruction with discussion, collaboration, hands‑on activities, and real‑time feedback—creating classrooms that are active, engaging, and intentionally paced.

Rockets Taking Initiative
RTI is intentionally flexible and customized for every student. No two students use this time in the same way. RTI may include meeting with teachers, joining a study group, participating in leadership workshops, receiving additional academic support, or exploring personal interests and enrichment opportunities.
Academic RTI Sessions
What makes the Assumption schedule so special?
We prepare students for college & life beyond high school.
The rotating block schedule and RTI time together help students develop essential life skills such as decision‑making, time management, self‑advocacy, and responsibility—skills they will rely on in college and beyond. By managing longer class periods and flexible learning time, students gain confidence and ownership of their academic journey.
We prioritize deeper learning & whole-person growth.
Assumption’s block schedule fosters a culture of care and excellence, where learning is not rushed and relationships matter. Teachers work collaboratively to ensure equity of access, embedding both support and enrichment directly into the school day. This intentional design reflects our commitment to developing the whole person—mind, body, and spirit.
