Think you could be the next best-selling author? Send us your best original poem or short story, and you could be published in the Assumption newspaper, The Rosecall. Submissions are due by: Friday, April 18.
Submission Guidelines:
- You must currently be in the 7th grade
- Contest is only open to young ladies (sorry guys!)
- Submissions must be original, and written by the student without help from an adult; if it is a collaborative writing endeavor with another 7th grade girl, it may be considered – include names and information for both authors when submitting
- Short stories should be no longer than 1,500 words
- An individual may submit no more than 1 piece
- All submissions must be word processed
- Each submission must also include a completed Submission Form (you will find the downloadable form at the bottom of this page)
- Submissions may be mailed to: Assumption High School
- OR Submissions may be emailed to: laura.kline@ahsrockets.org with the subject line:
- Submissions must be RECEIVED by Friday, April 18, 2008
- All submissions will be judged by Assumption High School English faculty, and their decisions are final

Prizes:
- The 1st place winner selected from all POETRY submissions will be published in the special Open House edition of the student newspaper, The Rosecall
- The 1st place winner selected from all SHORT STORY submissions will be published in the special Open House edition of the student newspaper, The Rosecall
- All 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners, and Honorable Mentions, will receive a certificate of recognition from Assumption High School
- All submissions will receive a certificate of participation from Assumption High School, and are invited to check out the winning submissions in the Open House edition of The Rosecall
