Journalism Students Receive 16 Awards

May 7, 2008 – Louisville, KY – Assumption High School’s journalism staff received high honors at the 2007-08 Kentucky High School Journalism Association contest for the school’s newspaper and yearbook.

The Rosecall, Assumption’s newspaper, was awarded second place for Overall Newspaper Design and third place for General Excellence. Staff members received the following individual awards: Madison Blincoe, first place in Editorial Writing; Allison Hord, first place in Two-Page Layout; Kaitlyn James, first place in Illustrations/Graphics; and Laura Thompson, first place in Newswriting and second place in Page One Design.

The Rosecast, Assumption’s yearbook, was awarded first place in Advertising and Overall Coverage. The staff received second place in Cover Design, Graphics, Theme Development, and General Excellence. They also earned third place in Overall Yearbook Design, Writing Style, and Yearbook Photography.

Assumption High School was founded in 1955 by the Sisters of Mercy. Located at 2170 Tyler Lane, the school brings almost 1,000 students together, grades 9-12, in a Catholic environment.
