Assumption High School Seniors to Sign Letters of Intent

May 5, 2008 – Louisville, KY – Samantha Hayden, Lauren Huter, Brenna Irwin, Kelsey Luckett, and Kaitlyn Morley, Assumption High School seniors, will sign letters of intent Thursday, May 8, at 3 p.m. in the Media Center to participate in college-level athletics.

Hayden was a four-year defender for the Rocket field hockey team and will sign to play with Robert Morris University. While at Assumption, she helped her team take first place in the National Hockey Festival and win the 2006 Apple Tournament. She is the daughter of Dianna and Matthew Hayden.

Huter will sign a letter of intent with Centre College to play basketball. For four years, she played post and served as team captain. She was named to the Kentucky State Basketball All-Tournament Team, 26th District All-Tournament Team, and Seventh Region All-Tournament Team in her senior year. Huter has also been awarded the college’s Colonel Scholarship for academic achievement. She is the daughter of Nancy and David Huter.

Irwin will sign to swim with Campbellsville University after four years of swimming for Assumption. As a sophomore, she was awarded two gold medals for freestyle and medley relay team performances. That same year, she also received the 110% Award for putting in extra effort. Brenna is the daughter of Shell and Joe Irwin.

Luckett, a four-year middle blocker for the state champion volleyball team, will sign with Georgetown College. Luckett was given the Scholar Athlete Award in 2005 and 2006, and the Sportsmanship Award in 2004 and 2007. Her accomplishments also include being named to the All-Tournament District Team in her senior year. She is the daughter of Kim and Curtis Luckett.

Third baseman Morley will sign to play softball for Bellarmine University. Morley’s accomplishments at Assumption include receiving the Most Valuable Player Award as a sophomore and junior. She was also named to the All-Region Metro Coaches Team, Academic All-State Softball Team, Junior All-Stars Team, and Seventh Region District All-Tournament Team in her junior year. Morley is the daughter of Lisa and Nick Morley.
