April 15, 2008 – Louisville, KY – Three Assumption High School seniors received top awards at the 28th annual Mark of Excellence Newspaper and Broadcasting ceremony. Twenty-five Kentucky high school newspapers and broadcasting programs entered the 2008 competition, hosted by Western Kentucky University’s Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.
According to a Western news release, students were recognized for their work as writers, editors, photographers, designers, videographers, and cartoonists. The entries were judged by WKU journalism students and faculty.
The following students received awards: Morgan Berry, first place for Best Two-Page Newspaper Spread Design; Natalie Fehder, third place in Editorial Writing; and Kaitlynn James, first place for Best Two-Page Newspaper Spread Design.

Assumption High School was founded in 1955 by the Sisters of Mercy. Located at 2170 Tyler Lane, the school brings almost 1,000 students together, grades 9-12, in a Catholic environment.
