Our purpose includes four steps: (1) research similar theories of Kohlberg and Gilligan, (2) create a poster introducing Kohlberg and Gilligan, (3) create a brochure highlighting similar theories from both Kohlberg and Gilligan, and (4) practice for the speech by presenting the poster and brochure to the class. In this way, your group will prepare a presentation to give at the moral development conference.

The Process

  1. Arrange for you and your partners to search the Internet and locate a total of at least four online articles about Kohlberg and Gilligan. See web sites listed under the resources section for this project. You may also select your own web sites if you wish.
  2. Create a poster including information about both Kohlberg and Gilligan. Include bulleted lists of information and at least two pictures on your poster.
  3. Create a brochure using Microsoft Publisher to hand out at the conference. The brochure should compare the theories of Kohlberg and Gilligan including similarities and any differences. Include bulleted lists of information and at least two pictures on your brochure. (Note: You only need to turn in 1 copy of the brochure to your teacher after the presentation since you will not actually be presenting at a conference.)
  4. Create a Works Cited Page referencing all online sources in MLA format. View the Online Writing Lab for assistance with MLA Format at: http://owl.english.purdue.edu/handouts/research/r_mla.html
  5. Then, present your poster and brochure to the class in a 3 to 5 minute presentation. You will practice your presentation in front of the class in order to prepare for the moral development presentation.
  6. After your presentation, turn in your poster, brochure, and Works Cited Page to your teacher.
