Student Assistance Program
- Provides individual school counseling to students
- Provides a quarterly newsletter, online information and parent education nights
- Recognizes the value of group counseling and offers the following support groups:
- A Grief Group for students who have lost a family member due to death
- A Transfer Group to help students adjust to a new school
- A COA Group that provides education and support to those affected by someone else’s drinking and/or drug use.
- A Divorce Group to assist students adjusting to family changes
- A Smoking Cessation Group which provides ongoing support and education for students wishing to stop smoking
- A Personal Growth Group which helps students look at developmental issues and life choices
- Coordinates the parent education program, which includes the Parent Network and the Affective Skills parent component
- Offers a Summer Seminar program for incoming freshmen to acclimate them to the Assumption Community and to foster peer relationships
- Implements a comprehensive alcohol and drug prevention education program
- Provides a weekly Alateen meeting on Tuesdays from 3:00-4:00 and a weekly Alcoholics Anonymous meeting on Thursdays from 3:00-4:00. Membership is limited to those attending the school. Email Theresa Berry for location.
