The Music Department at Assumption High School is committed to nurturing the musical growth of all students. Students are able to participate in various ensembles and classes based on their natural ability and training. We have three levels of choral ensembles that meet during the school day, from beginner to advanced. We also have two levels of guitar ensembles. At times we offer instrumental ensembles for strings and woodwinds. Aside from ensemble work, AP Music Theory is offered every other year for those students interested in pursuing college level music coursework.
Currently we have a handbell choir that meets afterschool, as well as an auditioned a capella vocal group. We have membership in the Music Honor Society, Tri M. Lastly, you may hear girls “Jammin' for Jesus” which is our club that offers musical performance for our prayer services and liturgies.
Mrs. Metry is a member of the Kentucky Music Educator's Association (KMEA) and a member of the American Choral Director's Association (ACDA). Through this membership her students are eligible to participate in festivals for solo and ensemble work.
