AP ADVANTAGEAllowing Every Student to Achieve Her Goals

Assumption offers more Advanced Placement (AP) courses than any other girls’ school in Louisville. In addition, Assumption offers an AP course, AP Human Geography, beginning freshman year.

Advanced Placement (AP) courses, administered by the national College Board, offer college-level curricula and examinations to high school students and provide the opportunity to earn college credit.

We are often asked why we choose to offer college level study through AP rather than other programs. The commitment to flexibility and access for students which is a hallmark of College Board’s AP philosophy has always meshed with Assumption’s mission to offer the most appropriate level of challenge for a student when she is ready and provides access to rigorous AP coursework in all content areas.

This rigorous course of study is open to all students who demonstrate the desire and work ethic to achieve in AP curriculum over the course of their time at Assumption. It is not pre-determined by their initial placement as freshmen. Dual credit courses offered in partnership with state colleges and universities provide another avenue for students to be challenged by college level course work in Assumption’s classrooms.

When you put all of this together, the results are impressive.  This rigorous preparation is the reason our students are accepted and attend schools all over the country.  Since 2013, our graduates have been accepted to 308 unique college and universities and are currently enrolled in 142 schools.

Since 2015, Assumption students have earned over $100 million in scholarship dollars to those schools with over 95% of those dollars in academic scholarships.
