Rocket Report
Dear Parents,
Today we welcome the parents of our incoming freshman Class of 2023 as they are receiving their first Rocket Report. Thank you for choosing Assumption! We look forward to sharing the news of our community with you each week. Please continue to look for the Rocket Report in your email inbox every Friday of the school year.
CALENDAR NOTES:
- SPRING BREAK: Spring break will begin Friday, March 29, since we met our Rocket Raffle ticket sale incentive, and continue through Sunday, April 7. School will resume on Monday, April 8.
CAMPUS MINISTRY:
- PARENT PRAYER GROUP ON TUESDAY MORNINGS: We invite all parents to join our parent prayer group that meets on Tuesdays at 8:15 a.m. in the chapel. Each prayer experience lasts just 30 minutes, dress is casual, and there’s no commitment to ongoing participation. Just come whenever you can make it!
- CAMPUS MINISTRY – GOSPEL REFLECTION: The reflection on the Sunday gospels written by Mary Ann Steutermann, director of Campus Ministry, was linked in the email that includes this Rocket Report link. We invite you to take a few minutes for yourself to read and reflect. You’ll be glad you did!

Please let MARY ANN STEUTERMANN know by Wednesday, April 10, if you are NOT able to attend.

INCOMING FRESHMEN – CLASS OF 2023 IMPORTANT INFORMATION: We are so excited for you to start seeing all that your daughter will be experiencing over the next four years through the Rocket Report! To ensure that you have everything you need for your daughter to begin in the fall, we have created a special website for the Class of 2023. On this site you will see a breakdown from month to month with dates to note on your calendar and items that need to be completed or turned in. A few of the time sensitive items which you will want to pay special attention to in April include SUMMER SEMINAR REGISTRATION, TABLET PC TRAINING SIGN-UPS, AND FRESHMAN SERVICE HOURS REQUIREMENTS. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact the Main Office at 502-458-9551.
AP EXAMS: Students who have signed up to take AP exams this May have been given invoices to cover the cost of their exam. AP Research and AP Seminar are $142 each and all other exams are $94 each. The exam fees are due in the office by Tuesday, March 26. Please check with your daughter about the invoice if she is currently enrolled in an AP class. Any questions, please contact KATHY FLEISCHER.
ABSENCES BEFORE/AFTER SPRING BREAK: Assumption does not excuse students from school for family trips and/or vacations. If you are planning to take your daughter out of school before 2:55 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, to get a jump start on Spring Break travel, please bear in mind that the absence will be unexcused and she will not be able to receive credit for anything collected for a grade (including tests) in her classes while she is gone. She may not submit the work early or turn it in after the absence for late credit. If your daughter becomes ill and is unable to attend school on Thursday, March 28, or Monday, April 8, she will need to provide a doctor’s note for the absence to be excused. If you have any questions or concerns about this, please contact Dean of Students CINDI BAUGHMAN. Full details about our attendance and absence policies and procedures can be found in the STUDENT-PARENT HANDBOOK.
2019-2020 SCHOOL CALENDAR: We are in the process of working on the 2019-2020 school calendar. Although we have not finalized the calendar, we recognize that our families may need general calendar information in advance. In order to help with this need, the tentative key calendar dates for 2019-2020 are posted on our website through this link: IMPORTANT DATES FOR 2019-2020 SCHOOL CALENDAR
LETTERS FROM COLLEGES: Attention, senior parents! Please have your senior daughters submit ALL letters received from colleges regarding scholarship offers, admission to special programs and honors colleges, as well as admission decisions to Leigh Jackson, college counselor. This information is vital to the Senior Honors Ceremony. These letters can be hard copies, faxes, or scanned copies and can be emailed directly to COLLEGE.LETTERS@ahsrockets.org by Thursday, March 28.
COMPASSION CONNECTIONS: Compassion truly inspires at Assumption this season! Through our Compassion Connections program, each of our nine AHS families is now collecting needed items to support nine different nonprofit agencies. We kicked off this year’s Lenten collection today. Your daughter has been asked to bring in a specific item as her donation in homeroom. We’d love for you to consider donating as well. Just ask your daughter what items her homeroom is collecting and send in any you want to contribute with her between now and Spring Break. Also, students will be delivering these items to these agencies sometime in April. If you can help transport items, please tell your daughter to share this information in her homeroom. Thanks for helping us help so many others!
