Our Mission

Responding to the Church's call to continue the teachings of Jesus Christ, Assumption High School, sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy, is missioned to create a community of lifelong learners in search of truth.

We educate the whole person in a caring, Christian environment.

We offer programs to young women with a wide range of abilities, talents, and needs.

We make sure that our young women learn and grow and feel good about themselves.

We provide financial assistance to families demonstrating economic need by reaching out to the poor and minorities in the community.

Assumption High School enjoys a tradition of academic excellence and development of Christian leaders who are committed to the values of compassion toward all and service to those in need.

Philosophy and Objectives

We believe that each person is of great worth, is endowed with human dignity, is unique, and is entitled to respect as an individual.

We believe that Assumption High School should provide a Christian atmosphere wherein individuals may deepen their relationship with God and church.

We believe that Assumption High School should provide an atmosphere which encourages individuals to develop and share their talents and respect those of others.

We believe that Assumption High School should promote the Christian attitudes of care and compassion for all people and the belief that active citizenship is the best way to effect necessary social change.

We believe that the contributions of our diverse racial, ethnic, social, economic, and political backgrounds are essential to the strength and richness of our society.

We believe that Assumption High School should engage supportive personnel and vigorously seek the involvement of parents/guardians and the community at large.

We believe that Assumption High School's faculty and staff should serve as role models for our students, who are in the confusing and demanding maturation process.

We believe that Assumption High School should provide the necessary tools, programs, and training to motivate students to realize their maximum potentials.

We believe that Assumption High School should engage qualified and motivated personnel who will provide varied learning experiences to meet individual learning patterns and rates of growth.

We believe that education should foster curiosity and enthusiasm.

We believe that the real beauty of academic ideas, theories, and concepts is their usefulness in an individual's attempt to understand herself and her place in society.

We believe that discipline, rules, and structure are necessary for an atmosphere conducive to learning.

We believe that school pride should be promoted and celebrated.

We believe that all persons need to understand both the privileges and responsibilities of citizenship.

We believe that effective education is the result of a responsible and mutual effort on the part of the school, the church, the family, and the community at large.
