Following is a list of notable awards presented to Assumption High School and its faculty and staff. For other honors granted to our school's faculty, staff, and students, please visit the Awards category in the News Archives.

Blue Ribbon School of Excellence

  • Assumption High School is the only girls' school in Louisville and one of only 41 nation-wide to receive this prestigious award from the US Department of Education three times.

Blue Ribbon Lighthouse Award

  • This award recognizes outstanding public and private schools across the United States that exhibit a strong commitment to educational excellence. The award focuses on locating best practices in nine different categories, including student focus and support, school organization and culture, technology integration, and professional community. Assumption will share our best practices with other schools throughout the country, serving as a "beacon" of excellence for education in the United States.
  • Assumption's application in the professional development category focused on the mission to educate all young women in a caring, Christian environment. The community mission centers on the idea that "every student every day learns and grows and feels good about herself." The application also highlighted Assumption's two-year research-based system for teachers, a plan that covers technology, reading comprehension, critical thinking, note-taking, and time/task management.
  • More Information can be found on the Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence Foundation website

National Catholic Education Association School of Tomorrow

  • Assumption was one of only 12 schools in the country to earn the Catholic Schools for Tomorrow "Innovations in Education" Award from the National Catholic Education Association (NCEA) and Today's Catholic Teacher Magazine.
  • The award recognizes Assumption for exemplary innovations in the staff development area. Assumption continues to focus on its Catholic identity and uses a research-based application of learning theory with teachers for ongoing faculty development.
  • The award commends Assumption for implementing faculty focus groups in several student skill areas, including note-taking, time management, critical thinking, technology, writing and reading comprehension. Focus groups are designed to help teachers become experts in a chosen area and bring those skills into the classrooms.

Recognized American Counselor Association Model Program

  • We are one of only eight schools in the nation to earn the Recognized American School Counselor Association (ASCA) Model Program (RAMP) designation.
  • The RAMP designation is an honor granted to schools that are committed to delivering a comprehensive, data-driven school counseling program and an exemplary educational environment. RAMP designees prove that students are different as a result of what school counselors do.

Learning Differences of Kentucky Beacon of Hope School

  • The Making a Difference Award honors a school whose primary mission is not one of special education, but whose faculty and staff work individually with special needs students.
